Painted seven tonight. Three are OK. Two are hideous. (Not shown here) I am cringing just thinking about clicking the post button. But the work is done. Hours put in towards my 10,000. I did have fun. I am really enjoying my new palette! YAY!

Part of the “getting things on the walls” project was this huge canvas. It has had a few lives. The last was partly covered up with ugly, muddy, leftover colors. Finally, I covered the yuck. Didn’t think I had enough Naples yellow so I added some white.

I still don’t know what I want to do with this canvas. And I have been thinking on it for three years, at least. A floral? A Mingus? An abstract landscape? Have to say, I really like it this way. Ha!

Don’t eat yellow snow.

Family from out-of-town this weekend. Might not post again until next week. Have fun!

This botched bunny was the first number one.

It’s possible I can save this.  I used granulating medium on the background and planned on adding more layers there. The foreground area was very pretty before it dried. The colors faded more than usual. When these areas bombed I did not go back to finish the rabbit. I can see a second attempt in my head, ideas are percolating.

Two out of three ain’t bad. Good sky. Decent Mingus. Work in progress. Yeah, that’s it. WIP. Everything was going well until the last step.

I was sort of, had in mind to create a texture like the one in this Palm piece. Don’t ask me what I did. That was eons ago. Obviously, my attempt didn’t work. What’s with the mold on the bottom of the hill??

The sky saved this. The blends on Mingus are… well blended. The line work is stiff and, cartoony. You can tell I am not comfortable with the pen. It is a Micron felt tip, for Calligraphy. (I didn’t realize when I grabbed the set that they were felt tips.) My other Microns are Dead.

I had the paintings done for today, but I did not have time to edit them. While doing that, I started playing with Mingus, and Photoshopped different versions. The one above is a “fixed” version. The one below is the original. The REAL, painting.

This last one is just a straight crop. Doesn’t help does it?

Day five  #WorldWatercolorMonth has the same story. I hoped to paint sunflowers like these favorites of mine (below). On the loose side. You can see the result. I am happy with the piece, but it does seem dark on screen.
