That was me when the mail came. I had no idea this sweet card would be there waiting for me. An original piece of art from Carol!! All the way from Israel! Oh JOY!!! I have followed Carol’s Journey for I don’t know how long. LOVE your work Carol! I LOVE this card!!

The image above is a photo, not a scan. Doesn’t do justice. But take a look at all that wonderful texture!! So soft and moody. A little mini-break for my soul. Breathe in, breathe out. Ahhh. This is a just-because card. Not part of LYA, and why it was such a surprise.

I guessed on the materials. You will have to correct me if I am wrong Carol. Your card did find me well. And left me in exaltation! Thank you my friend! You are a treasure!

Oh shoot, now I have done it. Christmas is in my head. But that works too. This IS “An Original Caroled”. Former choir girl here needs a fix.

I’m a dork, I admit it. I could listen to Christmas music all year long. OK, just one more…. start your day off with a shimmy and a shake!

But wait, there’s more!

For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
John 1:16

Not only was I blessed with Carol’s beautiful card, but I also received a surprise from Kat Sloma. I knew it was coming, but I sort of forgot. Sometimes brain farts aren’t so bad ‘ey?

As part of the LYA 2017 blog hop, Kat had a giveaway for a 6 x 9 print, and 10 packs of postcards. Seems the artists were super generous with their “extras” for Kat’s helpers. I was blessed with a gorgeous group of cards.

Always comes so fast. The end of the Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap. First, the anticipation that seems to go on forever. Then before you know it, well here we are. Showing off our goodies and saying “Thank you!”

My first thank you goes out to all of my followers. Thanks so much for indulging my LYA hoopla. This is a fun event for me, where I can reconnect with friends, and hopefully make new ones. A few of you decided to join in this year. And I am so glad you did! And remember, the invitation is open to everyone. Kat Sloma would be thrilled if you joined in next year!

Kat put together another awesome video postcard showcase. Amazing all the work that has been created and shared. Be sure to check it out. My art is at 1:00. She also shares her swap stats, how many countries and participants, etc. Huge thanks to Kat for organizing this event, and to her “elves” who help make it work so seamlessly! Each card that arrives is food for the soul. Blessings that brighten the day!

Thanks again to each artist that has gifted me with their work. Photography, collage, illustration, paint, Zentangle, mixed media. And on top of that, words to fuel the spirit! Thank you!

Side Swap

I received a spectacular side swap from my friend Natasha Monahan Papousek in the San Diego area. I scanned it to be sure you could see all the wonderful details. Just look at all that layered paint and collage fun! Love the sweet little bee! Love the swirly clouds, the blooms, the music is in the air feeling! Natasha does intricate Henna art and she is a talented photographer. We actually met in person, years ago. Thank you Natasha for sharing this terrific piece with me!

L.Y.A. Postcard #1

LYA #1 2017, Deanie Houghtaling, Phoenix AZ

LYA #1 2017, Deanie Houghtaling, Phoenix AZ

Yay! Postcard art in my mailbox! This card traveled to Oregon and made a round trip back to Arizona. Phoenix is an hour and half down the hill. Deanie and have swapped before, and I am so excited to receive her card again this year.

This is a photo of the Love Locks in Paris France taken in 2016. Isn’t that a great thought?

On the back:

” I take in all the colorful locks that line the bridge. Each one told a story. Each lock represented a relationship that was once special, whether it ended or turned into true happiness. The locks represented a past, present and a possible future.”
Ashley Earley, Alone in Paris

Deanie added:

“I always want to know the story behind the lock!

I want to know the story as well.  Don’t you think it would make a great movie? The story behind the stories? Well guess what, Hallmark has one. Learn about the real Love Locks.

You can find more from Deanie on Instagram, @deanie213 and @focusonphoenix. Check them out!

Thanks Deanie! I love this card. It has me thinking of Paris, happy stories, and you!
