Art And Inspiration

30-Day Creative Gathering Group Gallery
September 2021

Our September Gathering was a huge success. Over 620 pieces of art were created.

Congratulations to each of the members who participated! That includes EVERYONE. If you painted one day, or 30, the effort counts. A few of you were only able to participate through conversations and comments. Acting as a cheering squad and offering suggestions when questions were asked. Thank you all!

3 years of the 30-Day Creative Gathering!

This event completes our third year of “Gathering”. Congratulations everyone!

I am so honored to share a history with so many talented artists. Your work is amazing! I applaud your learning and experimenting. Your fearlessness. Your desire for growth. Your generosity and graciousness.

Our group is open to all, in any medium. Painting, drawing, collage, photography, sketching, digital art and even 3D sculptural art were included in this round. Our goal is to be creative every day, for 30 days. For many of us, that means showing a finished piece each day. But for some, it means sharing a work in progress until the piece is complete.

Our international group has beginners and professionals. We gather twice a year, in February and September. If you would like to join us or know someone who would, you can find us here. A huge thank you to all for granting permission to show your work here and on the group Pinterest board. It is a gorgeous gallery!

I am so excited to share this small selection of fabulous art. I know you will love it as much as I do. Feel free to leave comments for the artists. Follow their links for more information. Enjoy!

Getting Crowded

Adding Layers
Adding Layers

Today I am adding layers to the postcards. Pencil marks and scratches. I had a burst of energy at about 9:30 last night. It didn’t last long, but I did get quite a bit done. Some cleaning and what you see here.

I found a great discounted frame at Hobby Lobby. Solid wood. Just over six bucks! A steal. I think it may have been rejected because a couple of the corners don’t match up well. I used a black nail file and fixed that right quick. Haha.

I had no idea if it was a standard size. I knew I could find something to fit. I worked in framing years ago, and I can’t resist a great deal on a frame. Luck was on my side! It is standard, 8 x 10. Woo Whoo!

I knew I would paint it. Of course. You know me. It had a red undertone, and I wasn’t keen on it. I will add several layers. It will be darker and look slightly aged. I’m hopin’. Stay tuned.

I finally made a start on the Sandy Sandy class I won on Instagram. She will be doing more giveaways, follow her if you are interested. Her work is stunning and she is a wonderful teacher. (Thank you Sandy! And thanks to Christine B. or Kat V.R.! One of you tagged me for this.)

I have started on the videos that are included. And I have some sketches ready for painting. I don’t have a lightbox, so I use my computer screen to transfer the reference images.

of a man from Marseilles eating bouillabaisse,
which shouldn’t come as a surprise to you
because I am busy painting huge sunflowers.”
