Two out of three ain’t bad. Good sky. Decent Mingus. Work in progress. Yeah, that’s it. WIP. Everything was going well until the last step.

I was sort of, had in mind to create a texture like the one in this Palm piece. Don’t ask me what I did. That was eons ago. Obviously, my attempt didn’t work. What’s with the mold on the bottom of the hill??

The sky saved this. The blends on Mingus are… well blended. The line work is stiff and, cartoony. You can tell I am not comfortable with the pen. It is a Micron felt tip, for Calligraphy. (I didn’t realize when I grabbed the set that they were felt tips.) My other Microns are Dead.

I had the paintings done for today, but I did not have time to edit them. While doing that, I started playing with Mingus, and Photoshopped different versions. The one above is a “fixed” version. The one below is the original. The REAL, painting.

This last one is just a straight crop. Doesn’t help does it?

Day five  #WorldWatercolorMonth has the same story. I hoped to paint sunflowers like these favorites of mine (below). On the loose side. You can see the result. I am happy with the piece, but it does seem dark on screen.

This range is part of Mingus. Just south. You can see this from just about everywhere in town. I just love the crags and crevices. Are they crags in America? Or is that a British thing? OK, too many period pieces for me. OK, confession time. I painted this backwards. Traced it backwards on the paper. What? How? Ha ha ha! It was late, and I was NOT going to start over. Didn’t see it until the ink was dry.

I was in the mood for pen apparently. A style I would like to be better at. There are many styles I would like to be better at. Ha ha ha. Here is number four.  And oh, yeah. More yellow flowers.  I was trying to recreate flowers I did on this postcard.  Well, trying to create them better. HA! That will teach me.

There are other subjects I would like to paint for #WorldWatercolorMonth. Maybe I will do flowers for a week, and then switch. Maybe.

Have an awesome 4th everyone!!!

These next two I am calling works in progress. Not happy with them at the moment, but maybe when I look again they won’t seem so bad. Still, I will tweak them a bit.

The prompt for today’s watercolor is primary colors. These were all painted yesterday afternoon and evening. I am caught up! Again! Today I will be painting #92 along with the other project participants who are painting. I have to admit, I lost my mojo a couple of days ago. Snoopy was in my head. “BLEAH!” But he is gone now. Back in the groove. Even if some of these pieces are not very groovy.

Everything came in pairs today. Two bunnies, two crows. Two tiny birds on the fence. Hmmm, maybe it’s going to rain.
