Day 16? Why does that sound like we are so much further than half way? Sixteen is sounding very optimistic to me. Sixteen is close to twenty. And twenty is very close to thirty.

You might have to remind me of this in a few days. The third week is usually the longest for me. Don’t know why. Then all of the sudden it is the last week, and the days fly by before I know it.

There is so much terrific texture in this, that I just had to share a detail. The small squares are the texture of the panel. When I added the collage, I used Ultra Mat Gel (Liquitex). I put a layer over the entire piece, for added texture. The hatch marks in the white crayon are from the brush marks. Really love that 🙂

Cheers to optimistic week three!

Palette knife practice. With watercolor. Just to see what would happen. I mixed puddles of paint, and then dipped the knife. Observations:

  1. Mix thicker paint next time.
  2. Mix more paint. (Larger puddle).
  3. Don’t go back into a wet area.

OK, that last one was an accident. I thought the paint was dry. But I am not upset by the result, the yellow with the bloom. I have seen halos like that, in a misty seaside sunset.

And those are all things I knew. This little practice just reinforced them.  I used a long rectangular knife. It covered more area, and helped to blend the transitions.
