February – Day 16

Day 16? Why does that sound like we are so much further than half way? Sixteen is sounding very optimistic to me. Sixteen is close to twenty. And twenty is very close to thirty.

You might have to remind me of this in a few days. The third week is usually the longest for me. Don’t know why. Then all of the sudden it is the last week, and the days fly by before I know it.

There is so much terrific texture in this, that I just had to share a detail. The small squares are the texture of the panel. When I added the collage, I used Ultra Mat Gel (Liquitex). I put a layer over the entire piece, for added texture. The hatch marks in the white crayon are from the brush marks. Really love that 🙂

Cheers to optimistic week three!

Soft, ethereal and those words are so fitting. The moose was the first thing I saw (especially in the detail image) – maybe because they are our most common visitor in the winter months. Really like this series Sheila.

I like how the words “I am” do not have an adjective that we can see so it works our imagination and we can fill it in on our own. There’s something about the pattern of regular lines, the corrugated blue juxtaposed against the other colors that is very soothing and interesting at the same time.

So nice that you feel all of that Laurelle. Nice, and amazing, because much of that was unplanned. The first layers were spontaneous. These little works are so entertaining for me, how much is perceived by others. When for the most part, they came together from unintentional pieces and placements. So glad you enjoyed 🙂 Have fun creating my friend 🙂

I am having fun with them Val. I want to do some larger ones 🙂 It is too bad that some things in our art do not show well online. 🙂 Enjoy your painting time Val 🙂

So much to see and look at here! There’s a moose coming down from above on the left side. He’s face to face with an alert seabird. Meanwhile, there’s an elegant and perfectly poised woman ( profile) watching over everything. In the up close detail, it’s an early Easter Bunny facing left, with big ears arched over his head. I saw these things immediately! So cool, Sheila. And to top it off, the best part of all…..the words
“I Am” kind of reminds all beings of who’s in charge!

WOW Laurie! I love that you can see so much in such a small piece. And especially because I did not put them there on purpose. Cool! And your interpretation of the words, awesome!! I thought about writing a list in the post. I am this, I am that. And asking everyone what there I am is. But I decided to leave the thought uninfluenced. And look at what you came up with 🙂
