All while painting this, I was giggling internally. I totally botched this. Had something good going on with the backgrounds. Added blooms. Came out cool too. Added stems. Sad, sad, hideous stems. So, cover them up with grasses good idea yeah? Um, uh-uh.

So then I thought, how about a digital crop. Yeah. I can live with that. Ha ha ha ha. Just proving to myself, there is so much more to learn.

But the truth is above. 5 x 7.

I thought about naming it, the “Queen of Putrescence”. That terrific word came to mind. Hey, I might never have the chance to use it again!  I had to look up the spelling, and that led to the video. And of course I had to watch. That movie is full of funny.

I am drawn to the original image – those flowers are reaching for the sun! Gorgeous background. That movie has so many good parts – had forgotten about this one though!! Do another Sheila has such a great feel to it!

Thank you Janet, thanks for the encouragement! I haven’t seen it in years, my young cousins used to watch it over and over when I babysat. Good thing I liked the movie too! LOL

Oh, cropping is indeed a wonderful tool. I think your designer mind knew exactly what it needed, and the result is a very uplifting and delightful composition. The color palette is terrific and the background abstract blossoms and dots really give the focus flowers some depth.

My first thought on seeing this was ‘ oh, how fun’ It doesn’t bother me that the stems are all wrong; covering them partly with the grass was a good idea. I like the original painting best.

Sheila, you make me laugh! Those thoughts are inside every artist, I’m sure! You’ll know exactly what to do to make you happy with this painting! And “Late for the Party”- your signature style and that soft writing. I love it!

Sheila, you know how Food Network contestants often make deconstructed this or that? I see some really cool elements in your painting that you could ‘deconstruct’ and play with again. Your whole background here is inspired. I’m loving your current bold explorations.
