September is the month of the painting challenge. Now called Creative Gathering. I will be painting each day this month, and posting them here. I may not post each day. As I am also posting within the group. But I will show each painting, alone or in collections.

If you think you might be interested in participating, click here. The group is on Facebook, and you can join in at any time, do as much, or as little as you like. 🙂

I started this off with layers of pattern. Stencils, bubble wrap. I started with warm earth tones. Somehow the pinks took over. Meant to paint a snake plant. So much for plans. Ha-ha 🙂

Day 21 Of Thirty

I started a series of these abstract landscape postcards. I have about a dozen 4 x 6 “scraps” from larger sheets.  To be honest, my mojo is taking a siesta. I thought, “How bad can I screw up a simple postcard?” HA! Ha ha ha.

Out of eleven, I think I have three good ones. Not too bad of a batting average. Not great, but not bad. I think. I won’t do the math on that one.

It does mean that I can say I am two days ahead. Woo Whoo! But I will likely keep painting, and hoping for something better. I’ve got three busy days next week and that means my posts will continue to be sporadic.

My first #21 was this abstract collage. Well, it was abstract until I decided to put flowers on it. The start was just me getting every last drop of paint off my brush (from day 20). It was like the energizer bunny, it just kept going, and going, and going.

Finished And Happy With It

Walking through the floral stems in Hobby Lobby is what inspired this painting.  Glorious ranunculus, ever unfolding.  You can scroll down to see where this came from, the changes made. I washed off the watercolor blooms I had before. Went back in with acrylic to cover up the muddy mess that made. Started fresh with more watercolor and acrylic.

Tried to fight the lizard brain, but I still ended up with some rows. Added greenery, (duh, leaves, why didn’t I think of that?) And tried for texture in the blooms.  Still some things I would change, but calling it done, and I am happy with it. With a little help from my friends, Sea, Val, and Lana. And of course Dotty’s consistent, cheerful, critiques.  Thank you all for your helpful comments on the earlier version of this.
