Over in the blink of an eye. The Gathering. The month. The year. Only a few more days. And I still have so many ideas. Well, that is a cool problem to have. Haha.

A few more days, and it will be October. That is the beginning, of the end of the year. You know what I mean. Holidays, so much to do. There are several paintings from this month, that I feel are still works in progress. Minor tweaks or additions. If I am honest with myself, I probably won’t get back to them until next year. And by then, I might forget what it is I thought was wrong. Haha.

Keeping it simple for today.

To edit this, I had to bring out the colors in the background. Those colors never scan well. In Photoshop, I selected the background area, then clicked (arrow) for a new adjustment layer. I used selective color to bring out the pink (Juane Red). I selected red and then used the sliders until it looked right. With the same area selection, I chose yellows, and again, used the sliders to bring out more of that color. Below is a clip from the Photoshop program.

From one extreme to another. Day 21 was too light. Day 22 is too dark. Tomorrow’s piece oughta be just right. This is a totem pole cactus. They are lumpy and bumpy. They are smooth, no spines. I simplified the shapes. I may go back and add a few shadows to indicate lumps. I might also wash out some of the heavy colors in today’s background. It does remind me of the intense desert heat. I guess I should call it a work in progress. Opinions are always welcome. 🙂

I revised Yesterday’s painting. I like it much better now.
