Fifteen Blessed minutes of rain today. Hail, thunder, pouring rain. It started raining harder, and then stopped suddenly. As if someone had flipped a switch. Bizarre, and interesting.
Stayed muggy, no cool down. But the sweet, clean scent of rain was still appealing.
Both of these paintings are nearly all Indigo. The greys are what’s left after the paint ran off the page. I used granulating medium, and mixed indigo with a couple other colors, hoping they would separate on the paper. Well, it barely worked on #95. There is a hint of pure blue there. I need to do more experimenting with this. Looking forward to it!
I have shared this Yucca with you before. The real one.

Here it is now.
Yucca, July 6, 2018
And here it is, with company. I have an idea for this as a mixed media piece. I just wish I could have seen what kind of bird these are. The shadow had them incognito.
Two out of three ain’t bad. Good sky. Decent Mingus. Work in progress. Yeah, that’s it. WIP. Everything was going well until the last step.
I was sort of, had in mind to create a texture like the one in this Palm piece. Don’t ask me what I did. That was eons ago. Obviously, my attempt didn’t work. What’s with the mold on the bottom of the hill??
The sky saved this. The blends on Mingus are… well blended. The line work is stiff and, cartoony. You can tell I am not comfortable with the pen. It is a Micron felt tip, for Calligraphy. (I didn’t realize when I grabbed the set that they were felt tips.) My other Microns are Dead.
I had the paintings done for today, but I did not have time to edit them. While doing that, I started playing with Mingus, and Photoshopped different versions. The one above is a “fixed” version. The one below is the original. The REAL, painting.
Day five #WorldWatercolorMonth has the same story. I hoped to paint sunflowers like these favorites of mine (below). On the loose side. You can see the result. I am happy with the piece, but it does seem dark on screen.
These next two I am calling works in progress. Not happy with them at the moment, but maybe when I look again they won’t seem so bad. Still, I will tweak them a bit.
The prompt for today’s watercolor is primary colors. These were all painted yesterday afternoon and evening. I am caught up! Again! Today I will be painting #92 along with the other project participants who are painting. I have to admit, I lost my mojo a couple of days ago. Snoopy was in my head. “BLEAH!” But he is gone now. Back in the groove. Even if some of these pieces are not very groovy.
Everything came in pairs today. Two bunnies, two crows. Two tiny birds on the fence. Hmmm, maybe it’s going to rain.
