Woo Whoo! Here we are again. I am so happy to hear that so many of you are as excited as I am. It’s going to be a fun, and productive month!

There is a variation of greens and blues in the background of this Moon Cactus. Layers of texture that are not showing well here. I will continue working on this. The stones need help and the head needs attention as well. I did not add spines. They are so tiny, and on the yellow , they look dark and sort of dirty. I may just add some white spines around the edges.

You can see some of the texture here.

I found a basting brush at the dollar store awhile back. Made use of it in the first layers. Additional layers were added with a brayer, and there are small splatters as well.

Oh yeah, here we are Day 1, so full of vim, vigor and vitality – hope it lasts past week 2, haha. Love all that texture. Hooray for basting brushes – I use the spatulas too – love the dollar store for all kinds of tools. Thank you so much Sheila for doing this again this year.

Hahahahahaha! Right Nelvia!? Fingers crossed. 😉 Gotta love the dollar store. Art stores charge so much for tools, it’s crazy.
THANK YOU Nelvia for taking part. There would be no challenge without fabulous artists. 😉

oh my gosh. here it is February and off you go! woot woot!

the background texture, color, and variegation caught my immediate delighted attention! and I’m so glad you mentioned the basting brush (b/c my daughter has the exact same one in her house where I’m staying—guess it’s gonna go missing periodically! hopefully, w/o notice).

the calm of this piece, with its many quiet subtleties, invites meditation

Ha ha ha. You won’t get caught Dotty! I used it with indigo Inktense watercolor pencil, and it did not stain at all! It still looks brand new, LOL.
Peaceful, yup, that’s what I had in mind. Glad you felt it too Dotty 🙂
