Tried something new. Well, sort of new. I have tried before. Painting with a palette knife. Turned out so bad, I kept adding splatter to cover up the yuck. It was still awful, so I added some texture to the table. Trying to bring the yuck together cohesively.

I am cringing. But yes, I am actually going to post this palette knife failure. When I scanned it, I made a last-ditch effort to save it. I added a digital center to the top bloom. I don’t think it made a bit of difference. You can see the original below.

My first inclination is that this needs something more. It came together quickly.  A surprise because I was using a palette knife. I was happy with it when I set it aside to dry.  It feels restful to me.

So am I equating struggle with success? I don’t think so. The great thing is, I can live with this for a while, and still add to it later.

Paint. Let it dry.
Splatter paint. Splatter clear water. Let it dry.
Scan.
Splatter more paint. Let it dry. Splatter more water.
Let it dry. Scan.
Define the flowers and stems. Add more color to the vase.
Let it dry.  Scan.
Splatter paint. Splatter clear water. Almost ruin the flowers.
Let it dry.
Define the flowers and stems. Again.
Debate about posting. Post it anyway.

Too messy. But I kinda like it.
