Picture perfect day today.  A little warmer too. I spent some time this afternoon organizing my supplies. Started with one small task, and turned into a big to do. You know how that goes. But I have meant to do it for a while. Can check it off the list.

Dotty had asked about my new work space. I love looking at artists work spaces. One of my favorite Pinterest searches. I get kind of nosy too. I want to see what is in the cubbies and drawers. For that reason, I am including way too many photos.

My old work space was in the corner of my bedroom I had shelves on my right, filled with supplies. The black drawers sat on the corner of my desk. Now they are on top of the shelves, so that frees up desk area. I am hoping to move them eventually, and place my scanner where they are. For now, it sits under my desk.

I had to move my desk to make room for the art cart. It had been to the left of the desk, out of reach. Now I can pull it out and have tools close at hand. Moving the desk meant first moving the computer. And THAT meant I had to reorganize the cords. See what I mean.

The ever popular Ikea cart, and Ikea boxes and baskets helped to organize even more. Wood boxes for pens and paper.  Soft woven baskets for alcohol inks and small paint tubes.

Below that is craft paint, colors now clearly visible or labeled. This is what started it all. But hey, I made room for a few more bottles. LOL. On the bottom is cling wrap, crayons, pastels, large bottles.

The “studio” is still in my bedroom. Now it is along one wall, instead of in a corner.  I do have more storage in the closet. The shelves meant for shoes and purses are filled with supplies instead. Heart of an artist.

The monitor is on a stand, which allows me to tuck my most used paint and pencils underneath. The keyboard and mouse also fit when not in use.  You can see that the pencil holder Mark made, sits just about even with the bottom of the window. Perfect!

Still more to do. I will have an inspiration board on the left, the black drawers will move there as well. They are going to get a fresh coat of paint. Stay tuned.

Hope you enjoyed the five cent tour Dotty! Happy creating everyone!

Painted this today. My second try. I am happy with it. Wish all the clouds had turned out the same hue. Oh well. I learned a lot from the first attempt. And also from editing this in Photoshop. Gotta love learning!!

Below is yesterday’s. Blech! The clouds look dirty, as do the hills.  I could not get the colors adjusted correctly, so I “Photoshopped” this by adding a layer of red over the hills. That still was not working, so I added low percentage of blue over that. Both layers were not at full opacity, so the painting remained visible. I used a brush tool, and you can see above the peak on the left, that I went over the same area twice, making the blue visible. That was a mistake, but I kind of like it.

This is the sunset view I wanted to recreate. The photo does not do justice to the glowing light.

Today Mingus could not be ignored. I have an abstract at the ready, But the hills, the sky, they were calling me. So here you have it.

The clouds were dreary most of the day. Solid and slow-moving. They hung over the mountains. While overhead there was sun and puffy, cotton clouds.

About an hour before sunset , it was partly cloudy, and most were bright white. Those are the clouds I tried to capture in the painting. As the sun was setting, the blue hills took on a deep red glow. Might have to paint that for tomorrow.

Even if you’re on the right track,
you’ll get run over if you just sit there.
