I received a beautiful picture postcard from Christine Brooks, and I knew I wanted to paint the image. An Ibis, walking in a cross walk. Such a graphic composition. Just noticed I have him walking on the edge of the cross walk.

I was intimidated about trying to paint this bird. But again, the sketchbook made it less about “grand” perfection, and more about practice. I’m pretty happy with my first Ibis. Thanks Christine, for the surprise!

It’s here. Leslie’s painting challenge starts in three days. Last week I thought about my palette for the challenge. I don’t think my color choices have changed much since the September Round. To get it straight in my head, and to find out which supplies I need, I made a color chart. I used a hinge pin to dab the paint on. Less mess.

Now I can clearly see what I have in stock, and which paints are gloss or matte. I reorganized my art cart, most used items close at hand. You all know how much I love to organize, LOL. I even started a couple of small pieces.

So why do I feel so antsy?

Have you been to Dollar Tree lately? They have collage papers in stock. Three colorways in multiple patterns. Pretty nifty.

Sketch book is starting to fill up. I love the sound and feel of the wrinkly, crinkly paper. Each time I flip for a new page, I am reminded of these small accomplishments. For some reason, the small white pages are less intimidating. The book is a place for fun.

So, busy sketching, just not getting as far as posting them. More on the way.

This last piece was palette knife practice. It started as an abstract. I have five nearly empty bottles of paint on my desk. Trying to use them up before next month.

Next Month!! Next week!!

Better get to it!

Happy weekend everyone!

Really excited about filling my Sketchbook. There are 110 pages to look forward to!  This is Inktense pencils and water-soluble Neocolor crayons. I picked up this tiny, about 2.5 inches, pot at Michaels yesterday. They had double coupons, so it was about 95 cents. How could I resist. A smile and a bit of greenery for my desk.

I’d love to have a few small, live, succulents scattered around. I might try again. I can grow plants outdoors, but indoors is another story. And you do you know how hard it is to kill a succulent? Disaster. Ha ha.

I played with the greens, just because I could. Can you tell I had fun? The plant is actually more of a fresh celery green.

Happy weekend friends!
