It’s time for Art ON 45! Well, time for the submissions to be turned in. I pulled an all-nighter getting my piece ready to mail. Then I re-read the instructions and realized that submissions were being taken as digital images. Haha! Image and entry form sent. Alls well. It is a juried event. I’ll find out mid-month if the piece is accepted.

I started with several layers of a warm white front and back. I drew the shapes and filled them in with two shades of green. Next, I dipped a #2 pencil eraser in shades of blue and got spotty with it.

Layers of greens, blues. Painted and splattered. Then a cloak of darkness, and purply prickly pear adornment. I had a moment of trepidation before I started on the spines. The “What if I ruin it?!” Luck was on my side, I found the perfect small, skinny brush. Whew!

Mingus received a nice coat of snow on December 28th. Sadly, the valley stayed dry.

Two weeks later, and there is still snow on the mountain.

Mingus was hidden by clouds all afternoon.
Surprise!
Right around 9 pm giant, fluffy flakes started falling here as well.
Hooray!

Love the snow on Mingus and the darker background of the two paintings. You probably don’t want to hear it, but its been snowing most of the week here and our parking lot has piles of snow taller than me from the snow ploughs.

You probably don’t want that much snow, do you Sea? LOL. I bet it was beautiful coming down though 🙂 Glad you like the dark background 🙂

I had to chuckle at your Australian meaning for hooray. I really like your Moonbeams and Desert Dreams piece – well done. We had about 8 inches of snow the other day then some warm weather to melt it into slush then freezing to turn it into ice – winter is so interesting!!

I had to check my spelling, and I found that interesting as well. ;o) Sending prayers and good thoughts to Australia, and those affected by the fires. Including all of the critters :o/
All the phases can be interesting! Snowing, slushy, icy. If you don’t have to drive on it! LOL 🙂 Enjoy Val! Thank you 🙂

Love the 45! It looks like a person with upraised arms..
I like all the Mingus photos. It seems to change near continuously if you take time to look. I have no mountains in my state. It’s a great loss

You have the water though, that’s something! 😉 Haha. Christiane Dreiling mentioned that too, I didn’t see it while I was working, but now I do. Thanks for the thumbs up Dave 🙂

Nice work. At least you are ahead of the game. Look at all the snow, wow. It must be cold.
Good luck with the 45 and best wishes in all your endeavours.

Thanks, Laurelle 🙂 Fingers crossed. 🙂 I am going to try and get some photos tonight. Last night it was dark, then very foggy/misty, then clear and very bright. The mist made it very magical indeed. 🙂
      Feliz año nuevo! 🙂
