Lookin’ Out My Back Door

Granite Mountain Close-up

Today was so crisp and clear, gave a great view of Granite Mountain.  The wall is new. There will be houses just beyond, but they are supposed to be single story homes. Sure hope so, or we will lose this view.

Did some painting today. Not on canvas or paper. These cork trivets (Ikea) will be put to good use soon.

Came across this painting from November. It needed to be fixed, and I finally got to it today. It had an unfortunate splotch. You can see the original here. I had to rework the sky area several times before I was happy with it. I added more ink, and the edges along the petals became “ruffled” in the process. I really like the effect.

I opened up the back door to get a clear shot of the mountain. Brought this song to mind, and it stayed all afternoon.

Have a great weekend and may you find no sorrow!

The view is really something. I find myself taking photos of the view in every direction. So glad you enjoyed it Katie ?

Such beautiful views – and I hope you don’t loose this one! Love the intense colour of the alcohol inks (I have never used them), and I don’t find they overpower your floral – just love the flower centre. I think this would look beautiful matted and framed. Ha – you have given me another ‘ear worm’….liked a lot of their music – thanks for sharing. Have a good weekend.

I like a lot of their music too Janet. Of course influenced by my parents 😉 Doing the centers is my favorite, so glad you enjoyed it 🙂

Good grief, guess I was asleep at the wheel yesterday. I am just now discovering that I never commented on this post. Love the ruffled sunflower petal edges, Sheila, and I appreciate your linking us to the ‘before’ photo; nice job!

Eager to see where those cork trivets are heading.

Thanks for the time tunnel back to Creedence Clearwater Revival : )

LOL, so glad it made you sing Kat! Mineral paper is like Yupo, but it is made from stones. It has a velvety texture, compared to Yupo’s glossy feel. I did two comparison studies on them. But I am guessing those are in the month I lost from my blog, as I can not locate them now. You can find it at Hobby Lobby, or online. You can use it with watercolor, mixed media, and dry media as well. Here is a short video for you.

Now I am going to be singing that all day = thanks a bunch. I too hope that you don’t loose your view as it would be a shame. It is nice if you can go back and fix mistakes – so many people just throw the pieces away. Have a great day Sheila.

One of the nice things about Alcohol inks. I played that video a few times last night while writing the post. I read that he wrote the song for his son, who was three at the time. He knew his son would like the “doot doot do”. Most people thought it was about drugs, like “Lucy in the sky with diamonds”. But CCR never did psychedelics. At least that is what the article said. Happy Friday to you as well Val 🙂
