Now why didn’t I catch that? I had three chances to spot it. Just noticing the horrible shadow along the left that shouts, “BAD SCAN”. Uugghhh, LOL. (fixed)

I painted the WWM piece first today. I mixed paint, and had enough left I decided to use it on the Mingus painting as well. I LOVE Naples yellow. Really dig it. I mixed it with Cerulean the other day, and was blessed with the prettiest, soft, warm green.

There are two different blues in the sky, and touches of Naples.

Ready, set, GO!

Oh, I like this! This was fun!

I had a few hours to kill while in Phoenix last week, and lucky me, there was a Hobby Lobby nearby. They are bringing in Christmas. No, that is not a typo. To make room, there were mark downs galore. My most awesome find? A bottle of Winsor & Newton Granulation Medium.

I recently read about this medium, and I looked online to order it. What I found was over twelve dollars. Hobby had it at $8.99. And mark down was $2.24! WOO-HOO!!

All of that, dark, dirty looking color at the bottom of this piece is what using this medium will do. I’ll talk more about it tomorrow. I am using it for the next Mingus.

Yes, you are right! Yes, I AM crazy! I said YES to another 31 days of daily painting. I lost track of my days, and thought I had one more to contemplate what I would paint, what size I would paint, and what tools I would use. Well, scratch that. Today is the day!

I was going to ask your opinion. Should I do ATC’s (2.5 x 3.5), 4 x 4, 6 x 4 or 5 x 7? It’s going to be 5.5 x 8. I scored a Strathmore Visual Journal with the Hobby Lobby 40% OFF coupon. Strathmore has several different types of journals. This one is 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper. The paper feels heavy, I think it would even work for hand-painted postcards. It is a spiral binder, and I am excited about that! It will lay flat for easier painting. AND, there are 44 pages. If I botch some, I won’t run out of paper.

I thought I would include the remaining Mingus paintings as part of this month’s event. I have decided to keep them separate though. That means for 11 days, I will be doing two paintings each day. Eeesshh! Today’s prompt is “sunny days”.  I used my El Cheapo favorite Michaels pan set, and Neocolor crayons.
