Yo no se. I don’t know. I still don’t know what to make of this. One step further though. I think it is still a work in progress. It will have to gel awhile. First piece of the year. Crossed one unfinished project off my list.

This started with layers of watercolor back in October. I kept seeing a dark tree. There are many images of trees online, so I thought I was just channeling something I liked on social media. But it stuck. So I took a sheet of old music, and carved a tree. I added indigo watercolor, and some lines for texture.

The sheet music was a gift from my good friend Christiane Drieling. A wonderful, amazing surprise. An old book of Schubert music.  Christiane creates wonderful collage stories using old papers.
Her blog is a treat if you haven’t seen it.

Schubert Book.

I searched for two days for this book. Hid it away, cleaning for company. Well, first I looked for the photos I took when it arrived. Couldn’t find those, so I needed the book. Yup, neat freak lost it. I mean, there are only so many places it could be. I knew I was probably looking right at it.  And I was. It was exactly where it belongs. With art pads and papers. The book is falling apart, so I put it in a manilla envelope.

If you are on Instagram, you have seen the next two images. Just for fun.

My Year of Colour. The app pulls color from all your Instagram posts. Artwork and photographs. It surprises me that there is such a small amount of yellow. Ha ha.

We waited all year for snow to fall. It was a white New Years Eve.
Snowed 6 hours, slow and steady.

The mountains were hidden in clouds, when they started clearing it was really pretty.
The hills had matching cloud cover.

Sunset the following day. The hills looked like iced oatmeal cookies.

The Year

What can be said in New Year rhymes,
That’s not been said a thousand times?
The new years come, the old years go,
We know we dream, we dream we know.
We rise up laughing with the light,
We lie down weeping with the night.
We hug the world until it stings,
We curse it then and sigh for wings.
We live, we love, we woo, we wed,
We wreathe our brides, we sheet our dead.
We laugh, we weep, we hope, we fear,
And that’s the burden of the year.
~Ella Wheeler Wilcox 1910

God Bless and keep you safe.
May you have a JOY filled year ahead!

Thanks Katie 🙂 Happy New everything to you Katie!! So exciting, and exhausting. Two and a half years later, and I am just now finishing up on my clearing out stuff. Took a year to get fully unpacked and situated. So cut yourself some slack, LOL 🙂 Enjoy 🙂

Interesting. If you look at the 9 top posts and the colors the app selected at the same time, you see the same colors. I dont post much on instagram although I should, so it wouldnt work for me 🙁

I noticed that too Sea 😉 And I was happy to see that there is a… cohesiveness to my work. Even though I often feel there isn’t. 🙂

I really like what you did with your painting Sheila. I think the tree is super and all of the rest works so well – I would call that Done!. Super photos of your snow and the ones of Mingus. Happy creating.

What a wonderful post and what a way to kick off the New Year! The artwork “Yo No Sé” is creative, unique, amazing. I love this new style. It’s very different but yet it’s so very you. The snow scene is so lovely. I didn’t realize the temperatures dropped that low in your area. Is this a usual situation? The nine best of Instagram are terrific. I think it’s the first time I’ve seen the heron. It’s nice to see a creature in your art. Yes, I also would have expected more yellow in your year of color. I searched for it and finally found it and I was surprised how much brown was in mine…it’s all the flesh color I guess. And last but definitely not the least, the poignant poem. Thank you for an amazing post!! Happy New Year!!

That poem was a late night find. I have yet to look up the poet, but I intend to.
The snow, not sure about usual yet. Seems our first year here, we had more rain and snow. I need to look that up as well. Last year was drier, but maybe the rest of winter will have more precipitation. We have missed the rain! They are saying that this last storm brought colder temps than usual. Especially down in the Phoenix area. It was a pretty day Laurelle. Did you see the video on Instagram?
The heron was a copy of a postcard that Christine Brooks sent me. I forgot to share it on the post, but here is the full image of the painting, http://www.sheiladelgado.com/2018/01/postcard-pilfering/ I am not confident doing animals… I NEED to do more for that very reason 😉
I think all the brown in mine is from mountains. But I wonder if it sort of morphs colors, because there was a bunch of lavenders in mine as well. Thanks for visiting Laurelle. Happy New Year!

      Hi Carol!
Not sure what you mean post… do you mean the facebook post? Well the blog and Facebook both set limits on how large the image can be seen. And it you are seeing 8 x 8 that means I forgot to downsize it before saving it for the web. I agree about the sunset. I have a bunch of Mingus photos that I want to paint. Never enough time right, LOL. 🙂
On the colour site, you can choose to show your colours in different ways, like larger circles (and fewer) if you like. On both, you just enter your Instagram name 😉

Well so much prettier there than here, but we all get our water in different ways. Just wish our faucet would slow down a bit. Anyway, so much to look at on today’s post. Like the tree and the fact that you are collaging with the music. Isn’t that a wonderful base? When I saw the color before I didn’t realize it was an app, will have to check that out as it might tell me something I didn’t know about myself. Which after all these years still seems to be a lot I haven’t told myself – haha. Guess that is why they call it second childhood. Have a great day Sheila.

Still raining, WOW! The are both, apps, I think. Do the work for you. The colour app has options, and you can show the colors in different ways. Maybe you will be surprised too Nelvia. 🙂 LOL. Made me laugh Nelvia, you do seem to be discovering a lot in your work these days. How cool is that right?!
This gave me an even deeper appreciation of artists who collage, and Christiane. I was afraid the paper would break, and it did in a couple places. I used a X-acto and scissors and now I know I need new blades and better scissors. ha ha ha.
      Enjoy Nelvia!

Yo no sé—you had me at the title, which SO encapsulates my current state of being!

So, am I understanding correctly that the tree is cut from a sheet of music and then painted and then collaged onto your piece? Awesome!

Warmed my yo-no-sé heart that you started this piece in October, don’t know if it is finished or not, think it may still be a work in progress. : )

Visited Christiane’s blog. Thx for the link!

Yes, you are correct Dotty. Cut, color, collage. 😉 It’s OK not to know, guess we just go with the flow… right Dotty? So glad you enjoyed the piece, the length of the process, and Christiane’s blog.
