I sat down Thursday, thankful to have paper and paints in front of me. Ahhhh. In my mind, a recurring thought to do simple abstracts. Different, new. With collage maybe.

Funny the first piece is a view of the hills. Next one, yes simple, and a slightly different take. But still, something I have done before. Well, I wound up with 11 of these small starts.

Leslie’s January 30 day challenge has been cancelled. I am relieved, and a little sad too. I will miss the daily conversations with friends. I decided I will still try to complete 30 pieces this month. Small 4×4’s. To keep it simple (cue the laughter). But sometimes small is more difficult than doing a larger piece.

The Liberate Your Art postcard exchange has also been cancelled this year. I am planning on sending cards out anyhow. Any LYA’s willing to join me in a swap? If I have your address from last year, you are on my list 😉

That is a few months away. In the meantime, I have signed up for the next round of Love Notes. Thanks Christine for the reminder! In this exchange, you are paired with one person, and send them a postcard each week for three weeks. Looking forward to creating cards!

So that’s what I am up to this weekend. How ’bout you? Hope it’s a great one!!

Ha ha! It is funny how our minds often follow the same path even when we plan to do something different. For a number of years, I painted the same basic scene- a lake with mountains in the back and an island – I really had to struggle to stop doing it. I was a bit disappointed about the 30/30 challenge too but as life has been pretty strange for me lately it is just as well. I don’t think I will have time to get some postcards made but if you want to send me one I would love it. Have a great weekend and enjoy your Love Notes.

Ha ha ha, nice to know I am not alone in the twilight zone! ha ha 🙂 I think the 30 cancelation worked out well for a lot of artists. The all knowing universe came together 😉
You are on my list Val! I will post more as it gets closer 😉

Well I guess you subconscious likes the things you have been doing. But stay open and new things will come with the flow. I wonder now how long Leslie will stay with the AHA show or if she will stop and dive even more deeply into her new ventures. I think she is the next coming of Martha Stewart!! Anyway, we are in for another rain/gray weekend. But luckily I think we are going to be in the rain part, but just a few miles above us already they are getting sleet, so it might be close. Today starts a new project for me and I hope it turns out the way I think it does in my head. Have a good one my friend!!

Ha ha ha, true Nelvia 😉 I wonder that too. I can’t believe all that leslie has on her plate, and she keeps taking on more! You could be right. It’s time for a new Martha!
I envy your rain. Dry here and not expecting any soon. Fingers crossed it stays rain and not snow for you. 🙂
Good luck with your new work! I am sure it will turn out fabulous. And if not, I know you will find a way to make a great save!! Have fun my friend! 🙂

Sheila, I love everything about your 4×4 watercolor above.

    EVERYTHING.

I am using a watercolor painting of yours as a (perfect!) bookmark in one of the books I’m currently reading, Home Town by Tracy Kidder

So nice to hear that Dotty. I took a look at the book cover, to see if I could guess which piece of art might match that. LOL 🙂 And awesome to hear you love the new one too. Thanks Dotty. Enjoy your reading time my friend 🙂

Love the simplicity especially the second one down! The color palette is great! has a Rothko look!
Thanks again for the lovely card. I keep watching the birds bring in more and more flowers! Made a copy using a little software that records my screen. Brachot!

Oh, so glad you like it Carol 🙂 I do that too, take screen shots. My old computer does not have that, and I miss it when I am on that one. Great for saving recipes too, when the site makes it hard to print on one page. LOL. Glad you like the art 😉 Brachot!
