I thought I had very little left to do, to finish this, but it turned out to be more involved. I didn’t like how the two paddles on the left were facing the same direction. So I extended the side of the top paddle.

Only it didn’t work. I painted white, acrylic to cover the pencil line and green. Somehow, the paint dried sort of glossy, and it is not a gloss. So naturally, laying down layers of watercolor on the top was not going to cut it. But I tried. A few times.

Finally, thicker paint, and I think enough layers built up,  and I was able to get a decent couple strokes of semi-matching green. I tried making that side a little dark blue shadow, but uh-uh.

I’m happy with how that turned out. It is actually the real, color of cactus. I added another thin layer of turquoise watercolor to bring back some of what was lost. Outlined in turquoise oil pastel. Wondered at why it feels so good to have a crayon in your hand.

I was so excited about nine pm. Thinking I could go to bed early. So I putzed a bit, cleaned up my art mess. A little. Watched part of a movie. Starting writing my post.

Then about 10:30 my brain finally kicked in. I was done with yesterday’s painting. NOT today’s.

So here I am once again. Up against the deadline, and I JUST finished today’s art. And it is way to pink and girlie. And the Shiraz looks brown. And the orange flowers with a touch of pink, are ALL pink. But it is day 28 and that is that. It came together quickly, and I like it. So it’s all good.

I think it helped this month, thinking all along that the challenge ended at the end of the month. I mean, I knew I my head we were still doing 30 days. Today I will be doing the drawing for the last giveaway. Be sure to leave a comment!

I will put the numbers 1 -7 into a bowl, and pick a number. And from that day of the week, I will choose one comment, again by picking a number from a bowl (# of comments). Tune in tomorrow for the announcement!

Hope you have remembered to visit
the great art at Leslie’s 30 In 30 Blog!

Well what an adventure you had on these pieces. Grew a lot, didn’t you. I can’t wait to see today’s when they are all together in a collage, I loved this series and hope you had a great time working on it.

I did have fun Nelvia! The month went by quickly, and ideas kept coming. And I actually ended up with a collection that is fairly cohesive. Thanks for following along, and for your support 😉

Congrats on sticking to it and making it through the month! It’s interesting (to me, anyways) that I’ve liked all your pieces, as shown. You found problems with most of them. I guess that’s the difference between the artist and the audience! lol

Thanks Dave 🙂 I laid them all out last night, and there are five that I think are duds. But most of those, everyone else liked. So yeah, I guess it’s just being in the process, and trying to steer the ship. LOL 🙂 So thankful to have you follow along 🙂

What a mix up – did you forget that you don’t have to have a new painting every day? So really your cactus piece finish would count for both yesterday and today. I like the changes you made tho and your flower piece is lovely. Remember – we are almost through!

I thought about that Val. I did put time into it. But then I thought, my collage will be off if I don’t have 30 paintings. And that would just bug me. LOL. We are there Val. Just about 😉 So glad you did the challenge!!

Two great paintings!! Love the cactii and your bouquet is beautiful – love the variety of pinks and the areas of white you left behind the flowers – they just pop.I know how you feel when you get that crayon in hand – all of a sudden a feeling of freedom and no rules. How to get that with a paintbrush!! Way to go Sheila – have a great day!

When you’re under pressure, you can’t help it- that’s when your “Sheila style” takes over, as if you’re on auto pilot! This is you, and it’s beautiful! I need to get some crayons!

    1. I’m savoring the Day 27 edits/tweaks. Amusingly, ones that made a big impact to me but which you never even mentioned in your writeup were the addition of the dark widely spaced dots and some fainter ‘smudges’ of (perhaps the same?) dark color in the background and on a couple of the paddles! I like this piece!

    2. Three cheers for your 11th hour flowers! A favorite little eye-catcher: the petal/leaf shadows on the vase : )

Yay, Well, I think that means you liked the dots Dotty, LOL. I did not want to add white, as I usually do, and the white needles. I just wanted to cover the areas that did not have dots from the texture sheet. For that to work, I had to add them to the entire paddle. And the watery puddles of the same shriaz… wasn’t sure if that was just too much of the same color. So I am very glad to hear you like both additions my friend 😉
Those little shadows were fun 🙂 Enjoy your day my friend 🙂

Well, working under pressure sometimes produces great things and here it is. Your spring bouquet is gorgeous and perfect and should be left as-is. Wow!!
Your mango-delicious cactus leaves are brighter for the final turquoise watercolor wash. Amazing how holding a simple crayon takes us back decades to the time when everything was full of promise and we didn’t have a clue about anything and it was wonder-full.

Mira, you get it Laurelle 😉 I think I need to work with crayons more often! It’s funny, but when the Shiraz dried different, and the orange turned all pink, I was fine with it. Not what I wanted, but no worries. 😉 LOL. Of course bright multi hued splatter can be a cure all. Ha ha ha ha 😉
      have fun today Laurelle!
