This week the Spoonflower challenge was for a room specific wallpaper. I saw flowers. An abundance of flowers. I used my 30-Day Creative Gathering palette. When I thought I was done, something, was a little off. I decided to add a touch of warmth with yellow blooms.

Maybe I went a little berserk, but I am very happy with this design. I re-drew most of the blooms. I gave them wider borders to replace minute imperfections. I also gave them new centers. I intended to give the blue center a pattern. Dots or plaid. But I was right up to the deadline, and just spaced it.

What do you think? Pattern or plain? Plaid, or? Maybe there is already enough going on. I look forward to hearing your ideas. 🙂 Voting is open now, until the 16th.

The smallest flower is a thought,
a life answering to some feature of the Great Whole,
of whom they have a persistent intuition.

This collection is huge, you’re right. 3 colorways, 4 patterns, with 2 versions each. With or without the linen effect. A true fabric collection is made of several, completely different, complimentary pattens. With different subjects and in various scales.

Often, when I design, I am thinking of quilting. The parts of a quilt. The coordinating fabrics and how they work as the main design, as trim and as filler.

In addition, I can also take each of these patterns, and scale them down. Make petite versions. Fortunately, Spoonflower makes it very easy to do this.

How does the Meadow flower its bloom unfold?
Because the lovely little flower is free down to its root,
and in that freedom bold.

Earth Tone Throw Pillows. Spoonflower gave the designers a limited palette this week. Four colors. I used them all. I don’t know why, but I had it in my head, that it was a neutral challenge. Neutral colors. Subtle. Soft. I had several ideas for subtle patterns. I read the instructions again, and saw the color choices. And I had nothing. 😆

I wasn’t comfortable with the palette. You know me well enough, I don’t often reach for these hues. So I thought it would help to use design elements I am familiar with. This is a new design. We are not allowed to enter the same design twice. (You can see the two designs like this on my Spoonflower widget to the right.)

I prefer the caramel version, but I think the contrast of the dark and light might show better, and that is my entry for this Spoonflower challenge. Voting is now open, until the 31st. I am always grateful for your votes.
There are over 1700 entries this week. Definitely need to grab a cuppa and use it as a short break in the day. 😊 Scroll through slowly, and allow the page to load. Especially if you an using your phone or pad. 🙂

Prospering Radiance For Spoonflower

Spoonflower challenged designers to celebrate Chinese New Year with “Year of the Rabbit”. With this design, the color came first. Deep Shiraz. Or wine. Or burgundy. Take your pick.

With a dark base, the design elements were sure to pop. I started with a linen texture, and carried it through on the lanterns and hexagrams. The hexagrams are, “Prospering” and Radiance”.

For the rabbits, I added a subtle brushed gold effect. I need to check the swatch, the brushed effect might need to be increased. I was inspired by the silky, vibrant Chinese Qipao dresses.

The linen effect is hard to see here, you can check out the post on Spoonflower to better see it. Voting is now open, until the 24th. Prospering Radiance is off to a good start. I am grateful, and hopeful. 🙏😊🙏

Woo Who!

Can you believe it! February is almost here, and that means it is time for our 30 Days of Creative Gathering. I for one am excited. As you know, I have not been very productive artistically. These past few months I have been busy with behind the scenes admin tasks.

I am still undecided on a theme. As always. Haha. Landscapes? Collage? Abstracts? Well, you know me, I will probably do a little of each. Haha.
