Postcard Preference

Time for me to decide which postcard I will send to the Visual Aids 17th ANNUAL POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE exhibition.  I need your help, because I have six favorites and I can only send one card.

I just finished these two. They may seem totally unrelated. I have wanted to paint a tree in our neighbors back yard. It just glows all day long. It is taller than the rest of the trees, and it even seems to glow when the sky is grey and the sun is hidden.

I spoke with a friend in Montana the same day I painted this tree. It was snowing sideways, the winds were so strong. I started this next one as an abstract, trying to use some leftover paint. Obviously blustery was on my mind.

I actually think I like it better upside down. What do you think? I can see a hint of tall mountains, maybe a lake in the distance.

Here they all are together. No particular order.

If you have time, let me know in the comments which you like best.

There is so much for me to be thankful for. I hope for you as well. I know I am thankful for all of you who follow my blog, and who take the time to comment. Your participation is a true blessing!

Happy Thanksgiving!

God Bless!

Day 17 – 30 In 30

This is a do over. Good practice though. I did The main trees and foreground with a palette knife. I don’t have much practice in with that. The distant tree trunks were with the knife as well, and then I brushed on the branches. My strokes are clumpy and heavy.

I started this just before 11 pm, and by 11:30 I was done. So Just under the wire. I intended to paint a flower, but the blank, bright yellow canvas was a little intimidating. It was so pretty just plain! This idea popped into my head, and I started by adding some bronze metallic paint with my fingers. I did the large trunks first.

I will paint over it and try again. I do like it. But I will try to do better.

Happy Day 18, and Happy Thursday!

This is on its way to Colorado. My cousin told me it reminds her of a story she loves. I am a book lover too, so I could not resist gifting it to her.

They won’t go out until Monday, but I have finished preparing my postcards for Kat Sloma’s exchange. I finished decorating the envelope today. This is the fourth year for the exchange.

There is still time to take part if you are interested. You can see art from the previous exchanges, and get all the details here for Kat Sloma’s Liberate Your Art Postcard Exchange. She has two great video’s of all the participants art.

It is so much fun getting everything ready for this event. But the real fun will start in about a month, when I start receiving postcards from fellow artists and photographers.

I will be sharing the postcards I receive as they come in, it will be like Christmas in March! I hope you will join me, you can sign up to receive my posts by email. (To the right, under my photo.)

Join me in this international exchange! You will receive five postcards from around the world, and one from Kat Sloma. Kat has a goal to reach 250 participants this year. Be one! You can order printed postcards with your art, or you can make your own. If you decide to make your own, comment on this post, and I will send you my template for the back of the postcards. Send your art out into the world!

I have made new friends each year in this exchange, and that is really the best part. There are always “extra” swap requests on the Facebook page too. I included extras for the volunteers who help her as well.

Stay tuned!

Enjoy your Sunday, and happy creating to you!
