August Birthday Postcard Swap

The borrowers are at it again. I have searched high and low and everywhere in between. No really, I got down on my hands and knees to look under the chair and behind the desk. My brand new little book of stamps is missing.

I went thru my wallet & my purse, which I just cleaned out last night. Nope. And I recently vacuumed out the car, and cleaned under the seats, so I know the book did not fall into any hidden spaces there. I clearly remember taking it out of my purse when I got home. And there is only one place I would put them, which is exactly where they go, where my postcard stamps are. In the drawer marked “Office”. As in supplies. As in stamps.

You know what this means right? AAUGH! (A la Charlie Brown.) I am going to have to do a serious tearing apart, I mean cleaning. But my everything-in-its-place gene seems to be on vacation. So I will wait a few days and hope that Arrietty takes pity on me and returns the book while I am sleeping.

This month there is just one birthday we are celebrating in the Milliande Birthday Postcard Swap. I also included a “Believe” bookmark. (The freebie from my earlier post) and I made a tassel with cobalt blue glass beads on it. This was is watercolor, pen and pastel.

Lull’d in these Flowers

I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and eglantine:
There sleeps Titania sometime of the night,
Lull’d in these flowers with dances and delight.

~ William Shakespeare

Spoonflower found this weeks design challenge inspiration in William Shakespeare’s play, A Midsummer nights dream. With such an abundant source of imagery, they decided to limit the palette. Maybe this was to keep the designers heads from exploding.

So this is what we were given. Midsummer palette

And this is what I came up with. My entry is sample #1 the dark, solid background. For those of you who are interested, voting begins Thursday June 20th and ends on the 25th. I am so thankful to you for taking the time to search through and find my design to place your vote!

Midsummer Nights Dream

For Naomi

I visited my good friend today. To do some graphics work for the church. Last night I stayed up late, working on this small gift for her. OK, I am always up late working. But when I should have turned the lights off… I grabbed a small canvas instead. This is acrylic on a 4 x 6 canvas panel. I just got a wild hair, and I needed to play with my colors.

I also had a feeling, nagging at me. I wanted to do something nice for her. She is always so generous and giving to me, and to everyone.

Turns out she has a sinus infection, and had felt pretty miserable for a while. So what do ya’ think? Was that a guardian angel whispering in my ear?
