This view is pure imagination. Still, taking a cue from Mingus, I added some horizontal marks to the dark range. I hoped to add some definition to the front range as well. I don’t know if I was successful with that. Does it look like “hills”, or just one hill? I will look again tomorrow, and see if it feels better to me.

I used the palette knife, and my fingers to apply the paint. Here is another look at the before:

Day trip to Phoenix revealed these treasures along the way. I think I shared something like this first photo during September’s painting challenge.

I also found a new cactus to love. The totem pole cactus is thorn free! How cool is that?

Paper And Palette Knife

Paper, paint, palette knife and twenty minutes. Finally snuck one in. I have painted every day for the last week. On projects and not art. Feel so much better now.

Started with a blank sheet of paper, no drawing or plan.  Just the idea of palette knife practice. I reached for paint, and pulled out parched bottles. Spreading paint, scratching and scraping. Perhaps this is a work in progress.

I added a few phosphorescent trees at the bottom right. Plastic palette knife made marks to pudgy. I knew I could patch and polish in Photoshop, but this time it was just as easy to pile on more paint.

A Little Something

A gift for the new parents, and new arrival. A “birth” day gift.  We are still waiting for Little Mr., but all is well. Doctors have moved up the date. Mama is tiny, and baby is 9 pounds already, so he will likely arrive via cesarean. Did you know that nearly one in three women in America deliver via cesarean? Neither did I.

Happy day y’all!
