Flower paintings were at the ready. But after four days without a brush in my hand, I had to wet some paper. This is inspired by freeway art in Scottsdale Arizona. The ride home from the airport turned into a three-hour tour, errands and traffic. Along the way I took some photos of extremely large cacti, and saw even larger cacti stamped into cement. To cap it all off, dinner was a Philly cheese steak at the Anthem outlets. Mmmm!

It actually was a great day all around.

When I arrived at the airport, I walked away from the Southwest gates, looking for a restroom. Then, because of the crowds, I hightailed it back to Southwest. Just as I was loading my bags on the security conveyor belt, I heard my name. It was my Father. He is retired and lives in Mexico. I knew he was going to be in San Diego, but it sounded like we were going to miss each other. He wasn’t sure which airline I was on, and I truly believe the good Lord had a hand in the timing and our paths crossing.

If I had gone straight to my gate, he would not have seen me. And for some reason my phone was not ringing, I did not even know he was at the airport. But it worked out, and we were able to visit for a few minutes!

Divine intervention! Wishing you a blessed week!

Still having fun with the Mingus Mountains to the east. I have so many ideas, collage, layering, textures. But I need some wood panels. Think that would be better than paper or canvas. I wouldn’t have to be so delicate. Played with the shapes on this. I tilted the lines, and I like it. Lined with pencil.

Each time I look to the mountains they are new. Partly cloudy day makes for constant changes in the view. Today the field in front turned a perfect platinum blonde. (Photos taken on the 21st.)

Can’t wait to get home and LOOK AT ALL YOUR GREAT ART!

Whew! Got lucky again. Started by sprinkling clean water on the paper. First the head, and then the petals. I see some things I would like to improve. This is more linear than loose, but I really had fun working on it!

Ok, you are going to kill me, but this song popped into my head while I was painting. Sunshine Day by that classic band, The Brady Bunch. I had to listen or go crazy. If you dare, just be sure to stop it before Bobby goes into sexy mode. I mean really, whose idea was it for kids to act sexy?? Totally dating myself, but what the heck if you get a kick out of it.

Enjoy!
