Not A Barrel Of Monkeys

I am going to like painting on gessoed paper. Need more practice. I know you can’t see it, but that puts a smile on my face. The gesso allows easy removal of color. Take it off, put more on, take it off. It can be reworked without fear of the paper shredding. There is also a really nice texture in some areas. On the next piece I will show a close up, if it happens again.

Splatter stripe has been “favorited” by 29 of the designers on Spoonflower. A few that I really admire as well – professionals. (Very cool!)  That makes it my #2 design. I am going to take that as a good sign. Fingers crossed! Still time to vote today!

Happy Monday everyone!

Gesso and watercolour – look at those great textures. Your surface design is wonderful – hope to see it on something soon! Have a great day Sheila

Hi Sheila. It sounds like you are having a great time. I like the way watercolour works on gesso too but I don’t usually play with it; maybe it is time to play again. Good luck with the vote!

This was a quickie before bed. I was anxious to try the combination. I’m hoping to do another today. Enjoy your day Val, look forward to seeing what you are up to 🙂

I love the burst of color of the cactus against the harsher desert background and the variations in the burnt sienna (?) foreground! I think another good tag for you would be “Southwest Whimsical.” I voted for your cool Splatter Stripe design. Good luck!

I’m not a watercolorist so I always enjoy learning this and that from you, Sheila, e.g. gesso vs no gesso, and taking color off.

And, for that matter, I just learned about barrel cactus through you, too! And what better way to learn than through your beautiful watercolor painting.

Love that Splatter Stripe is being WELL received, as WELL it should!

I looked up watercolor on gesso, and only found two articles. So it is not something that is done a lot. Take that back. There were a bunch of videos in regards to journaling, and gessoing the pages. Your kind words made my Monday 🙂 Happy creating to you Dotty 🙂
