Paper, paint, palette knife and twenty minutes. Finally snuck one in. I have painted every day for the last week. On projects and not art. Feel so much better now.

Started with a blank sheet of paper, no drawing or plan.  Just the idea of palette knife practice. I reached for paint, and pulled out parched bottles. Spreading paint, scratching and scraping. Perhaps this is a work in progress.

I added a few phosphorescent trees at the bottom right. Plastic palette knife made marks to pudgy. I knew I could patch and polish in Photoshop, but this time it was just as easy to pile on more paint.

Simple setup.

I need to get mine mailed too. Last week was too crazy to get them together and this week I’m feeling a little lazy. Probably because I’m so tired. And now, I think I’ve changed my mind about the postcards I will send! Decisions, decisions!

It was great that you managed to sneak in a bit of art amongst your projects Sheila and that it was such a fun piece. Getting detail with a palette knife is such a challenge especially when you canvas is so small. Nice job on this fun little piece.

Good morning Sheila – This is wonderful. Gorgeous lights and darks and great texture. The small bits of lighter orange give a bit of spark to the painting. Love your simple setup. And piling on more paint – you go girl! After painting on projects and then doing this must have been quite freeing!? Hope you will do more of these and if you do more work on this look forward to seeing that too! Have fun with your postcard swap.

Good morning Janet 🙂 That orange was inspired by YOU! Yes it was freeing, and a tad scary. I usually start with a sketch. I am hoping to work on this more tonight. Happy creating to you 🙂

Precious paint-pal Sheila, ‘preciate the perfect pleasure of peeking at your playing and practicing with paint, paper, and palette knife. Perfect point from which to pop into today’s potent possibilities. Mmm, savoring the spreading, scratching, scraping, and slathering.

Thanks also for sharing some of the fun of LYA.
