Day 18

I’m in love. With Gesso board. I have used it before. For some reason, today everything just came together. Take that back. I did have to rework the shadow. Working wet, it flowed a little too much to the right. The left shadow edge is a little too hard, but I am fine with that.

I am not sure of the flowers. Are the convincing? I see one line that scanned much too dark, I will have to go back in and soften it. Also I may need to go back on the entire left side, and deepen the background, to make the blooms stand out more. Yes?

I am however, completely pleased with the little blue pot. I thought I had fudged the shadows, but, I think they are good. Isn’t it pretty!

The Gesso board is very forgiving, and I can go back in and add more color, or take some out and start over. It was a joy to work with.

Joyful painting to everyone!

I agree on the vase! As far as the flowers, I don’t see the line that is too dark. Yes, they’re convincing, but I do agree with you…maybe a tad darker in the background on the left (close to the flowers) to help the flowers pop. BUT be careful not to affect those beautiful “blooms” on the background. I love that. I think it’s beautiful, Sheila!

Good morning! The pot alone is pure pleasure! Love that you offered us a closeup of just that. I’m also really liking the visual energy and flow of the background—I feel like I’m in an interesting house with lots of stories to tell. An outwardly hard-edged woman has set out some pretty in her one vase to deflect my attention from the water stains on the wall, but she’ll happily tell it plain and let me know about the lives lived in that home if I ask.

You are scary Dotty. Scary Mary. That is what I call my dear friend when she calls just as I am thinking about her. Yes I am fairly quiet in person, and I can be opinionated too. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. But if you get me talking, I can be a real jabber-jaw.
That would be my house in the New Mexico hills. People often stop by on their way to some place more exciting. But they soon find themselves entranced by the quiet and the light and they ask if they can stay one more day.
See what you did Dotty. 🙂
