I am not completely happy with today’s piece. It started out longer. I thought cropping might be an improvement, but it still was off. So I took out the big guns. I used Photoshop to add width to the vase. That is cheating I know, and it did not save the piece. Here is the original.

I like them both, but the trick is to get an emotional response and I think it needs more pizzazz to do that. I agree that making it square by cropping the top is the way to go. There is a rule of no two the same which applies to everything about a painting length of lines, shapes, positioning, colours etc. You may want to consider that in your next piece.

Also I haven’t got over much from the ART PARTY, but I want to thank you for all your votes, comments and tireless work re-posting and inviting more artists and voters. I’m sure you’re a contender for a prize. You also have top votes on your work for one of the days so far. Can’t wait to see what you paint for the next 10 days.

Thanks Sea! You are right. I was using scrap paper, and I should have cropped it before painting, or maybe chosen a different subject. It seems your art party has been a success, I sure hop it has. Looking forward to you paintings as well Sea 🙂

I like these crazy flowers, Sheila. One thing that this challenge does not allow is time to look at our work with fresh eyes after putting it away for a bit. I think you will look at it tomorrow and like it better, because there is really nothing wrong with the original version. I too love the color palette you have been using in the past few pieces. Keep on keepin’ on my friend!!

Well, that works out, since the physical original is untouched 🙂 Maybe I was just looking at it wrong, seeing a flaw that wasn’t there. Thanks Connie 🙂 I do have a few more pieces started with these colors. 🙂

I like the color palette you have been using in these last few. I think this one is great. I like the original just as well. I like seeing more of the “vase”. Though I must say, I’ve never seen roses like these!
