I am really pleased with how the background turned out on this. It was difficult to hide the seam. There are sections that look like the seam is showing, but it is just part of the coloring. This is for the Birding Design Challenge. Here is a close-up.
I had a few ideas to add more to this, but I opted to turn it in early so I could prepare for the 30 day gathering. I have started on the next challenge design. A complicated Victorian floral.
Voting is open until the 6th. So many amazing designs presented!
Granny Square Floral placed at 482 of 718 with 29 votes. I was blown away by all of the fabulous designs! Thanks so much for voting! 🙂

Last week I designed two collections for the Spoonflower Granny Square challenge. I had no idea how I was going to create a faux-crochet effect. Looking at the challenge entries, I am amazed at the different ways designers achieved this.
My floral granny square has hundreds of layers. Each line, each petal. Whew! I knew that there would be lots of bright, colorful designs. So I decided to go with something softer. I am very happy with how this design turned out.
Voting is open now through the 30th. Yikes! The 30th? The 30-Day Creative Challenge is right around the corner! 🙂
I designed the basket weave first. And I think I will go back and increase the size of the pom-pom. It seems too small. WIth this design, I think the brighter colors work better. Which do you like best?
My entry for the Spoonflower Retro Floral Curtain Design Challenge. Yes, this looks familiar. I used some of the same blooms from the retro pillow challenge, but changed the palette.
I tried to do a more natural pussy willow design. Twiggy and delicate. But everything I have worked on this week has turned to muck. 😆 What could go wrong, has. With time running out, I decided to recycle.
Even then, more problems. My strokes, outlines, were messy and uneven on about half of the smaller blooms. And unfortunately, I hadn’t noticed until after I had duplicated many times. Uggh. I didn’t know what was wrong, so my fixes weren’t fixing. The only thing to do was to start over. Voila. 🤓
Voting for the Retro Floral Curtain Challenge is open for five days. Last week’s Moon Sun design placed 456, (With 29 votes.) of 848 entries. That’s almost the top 50%. 😆 Thanks so much for voting. I really appreciate it. 😻
