Thought I was done with this. It was sitting on my desk, and I decided it still needed work. I added more texture and I like it better now. The spot on the top left edge looks terrific in person. It looks like the paint has been chipped away.

I am not sure this is interesting or attractive, or balanced. Not sure it even matters to me. I had fun scratching into the white paint. I had fun playing with color and trying something new!

No need to worry if it’s interesting, balanced or whatever else you said, because it’s yes, yes, yes!! I love this composition, Sheila. And the texture. Just a really interesting piece!

Super texture Sheila and you are right – it doesn’t matter if it is balanced or interesting if you had fun. Pieces like this give the viewer the chance to search for something; it is not just a pretty picture.

Great textures and colour. Like the higher contrast on the ‘sand’ coloured areas that you added. I like that you are experimenting Sheila. I think it is good to throw things off balance and paint something totally out of your comfort zone, I don’t think it matters if it works of not, the point is you are growing as an artist. I think it will be interesting to see what comes from this experimenting when you paint more landscapes, florals, etc. Hope to see more of these! Have a great weekend.

I really had fun with all of these little pieces. And working with the palette knife. And it is generating ideas for new paintings. I have a list going for next month. Enjoy your creative time today Janet 🙂

Oh yeah, this is a different look than you other abstracts, more structured. I think the textures really help move the eye through the painting. You see something unique in each segment and my eye really gets drawn first into the white area then moves to the green. Like this one a lot.

Terrific textural travels with this 4×4, Sheila. What a sweet space you are inhabiting, letting go of left brain concerns and running riot with right brain intuitions. You and Carol are keeping me on the edge of my seat these days with your adventures. Carry on!
