Day 25 – 30 in 30

Whew, we are over the hump, and comin’ round the bend. I have to admit I am glad we are almost there. I have had a high ratio of good paintings to bad, but I am not sure how long I can keep that up! ;-.)

For today, I worked on an 8 x 8 canvas panel. I took my cue for an artist I admire, Sandrine Pelissier. She does amazing large-scale work, and her floral arrangements are so fun and cheerful. I know part of the reason I love them so much, is all the pattern details she adds to them.

I had too much fun on this. It is not a one day painting. I prepped the panel with the purple  a couple of days ago. Cool found tool – I used a nail head to “stamp” the circles on the table.

Only a few days left to enjoy the gallery on Leslie’s Blog.

Caught up – 30 In 30

Day 4, 5, 6, and 7

So much for getting ahead. Maybe next time I will use 3 or 4 layers, instead of 158.  Just kidding. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to go light, or dark for the final pieces.

This little series is based on the themes of love and the human condition. I am going to submit artwork to be published in Bradford G. Wheler’s book – LOVE SAYINGS: wit & wisdom of romance, courtship, and marriage.

For “LOVE SAYINGS” he is looking for original artwork and photography that in some way relates to love and the human condition. Artists who would like to be considered can sign up at bookcollaborative.com.

I have paintings in two of Brad’s earlier books. You can see them here, and here.

I haven’t decided on titles for these yet. Any ideas? Home is where the heart is, love on the rocks, heart of mine. Love grows (where my Rosemary goes). I always think in song or movie titles.

I will be painting more on this theme. But I think, it is time for some watercolor.

It’s too bad the copper does not show more in the photos, it looks great, just bits here and there that catch the light. Today was a good day! Six of my fabric designs sold today at Spoonflower! Woo Whoo!

Tons of amazing art to be seen!

Crystal Blue Persuasion

My submission for the A.I.R. Wish You Were here 13 Postcard Exhibition is ready. Just not sure which one it will be yet. I do have a favorite, but I am really interested to see what you think. So take a look, and let me know in the comments which one you like best.

I included the before with the after. And you can see them again here. The single white flower was a total fail about half way through. I added some crinkled paper that I had painted red. When it dried, it was pale and dusty, and not really a color I could describe. Certainly NOT red. I covered the ugly with white, and started over. The wrinkles and crinkles catch the light, adding some depth. The swimmer and the stargazer were already on the paper, it just took a little negative painting, to set them free.

Have a super Sunday ~
Thanks for taking the time to tell me which one you like.
