Prayer

: a solemn request for help or expression of thanks addressed to God or an object of worship.

: a religious service, especially a regular one, at which people gather in order to pray together.

: an earnest hope or wish.

The wedding colors were navy and a coral, or salmon. I tried this with the addition of coral, and it was awful. Tried it with a soft sky blue. Too sweet. Went with navy and white. Just right.

I didn’t think about it until I was through. But maybe this has a slight resemblance to water. The ocean. Moonlight. Their wedding cruise.

Well, we will see if anyone else makes that connection.

Happy weekend y’all!

Wedding gifts. Late. A larger canvas yet to finish. Tempted to add, something. A line. Some texture. But the couple is into modern and minimalist. So leaving them as is. Pulled the palette from their registry.

I put off painting these. Lettering still scares me. That voice that tells me I can’t do it, or that I will ruin it. I know I can paint over any mistakes, but the doubt still wins out.

There were mistakes. And I DID erase them with paint. Still a little crooked here and there. Proof of being hand-made.

Enjoy your day!

Changing Vistas

Didn’t plan on disappearing for two weeks. Had a post half ready. Important projects half done. Then, time to pack and leave for a week on the water.

My good friends celebrating their daughter. A wedding cruise to Catalina and Ensenada. There were about 34 guests that joined the trip.

Carnival is known as the “Fun Ships”. My fun was more relax than Rock and Roll. I ordered room service, read two books and chilled on the balcony. The ship had a cozy little Library. Sprinkle in meals with friends. Perfect. The first book was poetry. She Walks in Beauty by Caroline Kennedy.  A longtime favorite poem of mine.

She Walks In Beauty, by Lord Byron

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place,

And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

The Longevity Book by Cameron Diaz was very interesting. Kept me up late one night. Well, honestly, I am usually up late at night. But this time it was with a good book as my companion. Made me think that I should make reading at night a new habit!

The photos are self-explanatory. Sunsets and destinations. Looking down in the atrium. The neon green line is where our cabins were. At the front of the ship. Our home port was Long Beach, The Queen Mary our neighbor.
