Prayer

: a solemn request for help or expression of thanks addressed to God or an object of worship.

: a religious service, especially a regular one, at which people gather in order to pray together.

: an earnest hope or wish.

The wedding colors were navy and a coral, or salmon. I tried this with the addition of coral, and it was awful. Tried it with a soft sky blue. Too sweet. Went with navy and white. Just right.

I didn’t think about it until I was through. But maybe this has a slight resemblance to water. The ocean. Moonlight. Their wedding cruise.

Well, we will see if anyone else makes that connection.

Happy weekend y’all!

Scripture In Progess

I ran out of daylight yesterday and had to wait until today to continue working on this. I worked in Photoshop to choose fonts and set the type the way I wanted it on the canvas. My lettering skills are not such that I can create interesting fonts on the fly. I know it is difficult to see on the canvas at this point. I chose a cursive font for the majority of the type, and added interest to key words with large, bold fonts.

Then I transferred the type to the canvas, old school style. I took graphite to the back of my type sheet. I taped the sheet lightly to the canvas, and traced the message, checking as I went.

Because it is a large canvas, 12 x 12 in., I tucked a used canvas panel in back between the frame and canvas. That gave me a hard surface to trace on. I did not have to apply much pressure to transfer the type.

I have begun to paint the letters. It’s so funny because starting this task still puts the fear failure into me.

Why do I think it is going to be so hard?

No worries. Once I start, it deflates from a big deal into a small one.

It feels a lot like Christmas here in Southern California! So nice to have proper hot cocoa drinking weather. They say rain is on the way, but I won’t pull out the umbrella just yet!

Have a JOYFUL day!

This will have scripture and I will also add some details or textures. I painted using my fingers, mixing some of the colors directly on the canvas.

I started with a dark section, seen below. Thinking I would have lighter details there.

W.I.P. #1

After looking at it, I changed my mind, and reworked that area.  Tomorrow I will add to this, and share the results with you.

My site has been down for almost two weeks. The main issue has been resolved, but there may still be a few hiccups in the next few days. (Quick updates that may take the site down for five or ten minutes at a time.)  I am guessing my silence wasn’t noticed. but if you did try to reach my site, and couldn’t – I apologize.

I have signed up for Leslie Saeta’s January challenge. I am still trying to think of a theme, and decide on a medium. I will be in the middle of a move, next month, so that is a major factor. I may have to pack some supplies early.

Hope your holiday preparations are going smoothly!

Happy, creative week to you!
