30 In 30, Day Twenty-Two

This needs a bit more work. Some of the petals fade a bit, which is what I wanted. Trying to decide if I should take a pen to it, or just scrub out some of the sky area. The leaves need more detail too. But for today, this is my painting. What do you think it needs? This happened quite fast, and I am pleased with it even if it is unfinished.

Enjoy your afternoon, I am on my way to  BBQ Ribs. YUM!

More great art at Leslie’s site – Enjoy!

I did a half dozen of these. Trying to get better. Turns out the first one is the best. Some days you just need a KISS. Keep it simple stupid.

Wishing you all a joyous weekend. Hope you have time to notice a flower or two. The bark of a tree, a fallen leaf, the gentle whisper of the breeze.

Treat your soul to some art today!

“Full many a flower is born to blush unseen,
And waste it’s fragrance on the desert air.”

– Jane Austen, Emma

The Gentle Gardener

I’d like to leave but daffodils to mark my little way,
To leave but tulips red and white behind me as I stray;
I’d like to pass away from earth and feel I’d left behind
But roses and forget-me-nots for all who come to find.

I’d like to sow the barren spots with all the flowers of earth,
To leave a path where those who come should find but gentle mirth;
And when at last I’m called upon to join the heavenly throng
I’d like to feel along my way I’d left no sign of wrong.

And yet the cares are many and the hours of toil are few;
There is not time enough on earth for all I’d like to do;
But, having lived and having toiled, I’d like the world to find
Some little touch of beauty that my soul had left behind.”

30 In 30, Day Eighteen

This is as self portrait. Sort of.

I started by just moving some paint around. A few minutes in, and her features started to reveal themselves to me.

I finished, and it reminded me of a sketch I have framed. When I was in grade school, one of my teachers did this for all of the students in her class. It must have been a gift for Mother’s day or for Valentines. I have had it since I was seven I think.

So what do you think, do you see a resemblance?
