Rottweiler Portrait

Worked on this for a friend’s BIG FIVE OH birthday celebration. This was my first attempt, and I am so pleased with how it turned out.

The critic in me says it is completely over worked. I heard those familiar voices in my head the whole time. You know the ones, those characters that go by the names of Fear and Doubt. I just forced myself to work through the mud and the muck. That stage in the middle where it looks like a toddler is holding the brush.

I learned a few new things during the process. For that alone, I can call this a success. The birthday “girl” loved it, and that is all that really matters.

Whew!

Patti Digh – January Book Release

WOO WHOO!

I am in! I just received word that one/or both of my paintings are in  The Geography of Loss: Embrace What Is, Honor What Was, Love What Will Be. By Patti Digh. I sent the submissions in September of 2012. I thought the jury process had long since ended, and just figured I had not been selected.

When I saw the letter in my box, I thought it was an invitation to take part in a new project. I am so happy! And on top of that AMAZING news, I will receive a free copy of the book when it is released in mid-January.

Here is the artwork I created for the themes they supplied. One had to do with maps, and the other was on how we handle loss. I believe this is Patti’s fifth book, and in each of them, she invites artists from around the world to take part in the illustration.

Wishing you all a very Happy weekend – filled with Happy news!

Spoonflower Fall Leaves Contest

If you remember, in October I painted a fall leaf for the Milliande Birthday postcard swap. And if you don’t remember, that is OK. You can see it here.

My Dear friend Joan Princing had the great idea of using it for a fabric design. I did a very simple toss pattern and that is my entry in this weeks Spoonflower design contest. If you like what you see, you can vote for me. There is only one page, just click and submit.

I appreciate your support, and I thank you for taking the time!
