I should have done one more landscape to split the month down the middle. Those hills will pop up again I am sure. Still more I want to try.

Had a hard time today getting the colors to show true in Photoshop. Usually I add a bit of light and vibrance. But I had to “dull” this down by going into the negatives on both of those settings.  Clay, sand, white, desert rose, indigo. Warm, soft, calm.

This is a new piece, not one of the abstracts I struggled with. I worked on four today. The others need more work, and I needed to step away and let them breathe.

I did some cropping, just playing in Photoshop, pulling out my favorite parts. Wonder how many interesting images I could get from this one small painting.

I am so in awe of the great work the artists are creating this month. I really hope you have a chance to take a look.  Enjoy!

Another glorious sunset. And my attempt to capture it.  I can say I had fun working on this. And it came quickly.  Still, there are several things I’d change if I could.

The wash in the sky is far too light, and the clouds far too dark. The wash actually looks deeper in person, and the moon does stand out a bit more. When I started with the clouds, the colors were much too light, and I just overcompensated.

The pink on the top cloud was drying too dark, I added more white gouache to the mix, and you can see the result.

My first photo of the sun setting, I thought “WOW! Look at that!”

And then it got better!

Any wonder ancient Egyptians worshipped the sun?

Had some errands today, so I did not have time to work on the clouds. Sat down to paint at 10 pm. Getting later and later aren’t I? Spent a half hour thinking about starting a painting. Decided to do a sketch and see if it would be worth posting. Maybe not, but it is Day 13.

I pulled out my waterbrush, watercolor crayons. Oh, and a couple of watercolor pencils. This is the result. I have a pad of the mixed media paper, bought on sale, and this is the second sheet I have used. I really like it. Wondering why I haven’t used it more often.

I added a bit to the foreground of yesterday’s work. I just felt like I had three separate pieces, instead of an integrated painting. Sky, hill, grass. So just a bit of indigo, to add shadow, and reflect a bit of the hills. Don’t know if it was successful, but I like it better.

Maybe it is too busy now. Do you think it should just be a light solid wash over the entire area?

Enjoy your day!
