I had a major interruption mid-session. I started out thinking of florals in a Sandrine Pelissier style. What I ended up with was more Bob Burridge style. Or Katie Jeanne Wood.

I am really happy with everything BUT the flowers. LOL. The colors look dead to me. I wanted to be muted, but, not blah. Haha. I am considering going back in, and carving out loose, wonky, floral shapes.

We had snow last night, briefly. Wet snow and rain before that. It was damp at 1:30 am. Sometime later, we received snow on the mountains. Some is hanging around, but very little. It is going to be sunny for the next two weeks, and getting warmer.

I love the flowers and I LOVE that you made the vase from music. Flowers love music, Sheila.

Your work is really great, and love the changes and that you are working in different mediums 😊❤️

I always sit and look before reading the post or comments, and I came to exactly the same conclusion as Val. I took my fingers and blocked out some of the big yellow splodges and the little yellow splodges looked very pretty, like meadow flowers. So how to adapt the big ones??? I came up with a translucent red wash to create bright orange. My second thought was washing with deep forest green to give depth. Washes often add more life because of the layers. Alternately find some magazine cuttings in either of those colours and apply. Of course my go to would be Golden copper fine over the big splodges. Good luck. I find my problem paintings always sell much faster than the ones that were easy (after I wrestle with them a while). It’s snowing again here, but super fine and slow falling. It kinda looks like a digital trick. ❤️

Very interesting Sea, thank you for all of your ideas. I am thinking about it now. I was going to go back to these today, But I will let them sit. I do think they could use more green, that green looks so vibrant in the bottle, but it disappeared here. A shot of copper, YEAH!
The others all sound great too, I am picturing them in my mind. A dark green, and more depth…

Have fun today Sea! I am really enjoying your digital masterpieces!

Sheila, the expression “a spray of flowers” has suddenly come to life front and center with full magnificence here! I’m opening this post before dawn on Monday but, suddenly, the sun has risen through your paintbrush! Awesome! Love the vertical music of the heavens rising through the vase in #13.

My first thought was WOW! Then I read your post and started to see what you meant. I don’t think it would be easy to have muted colours that aren’t dull as they all look opaque . I have to say that I find the yellow jarring and I wonder if an orange might be better. I do like the explosion of the flowers and the vase is super!

I was thinking I need an orange. I rarely use red, but that might have been good. I didn’t feel good about that yellow either Val. Haha.
I like your first thought, LOL 🙂
