You may remember my blue bee. I had the idea to rework him, and make him available as a print. I recycled a watercolor bloom as well, and created a digital collage. The background is a photo of leaves on a tree I took at El Santuario de Chimayo in New Mexico. A special, sacred place. To the photo I added several effects, including watercolor, to give them a more painterly look. I added shadows for depth as well.

I had a request for a simplified background. I really like it this way too. I played with several colors and may make more available. Christiane is going to gift this to a friend. So happy you like it Christiane!  Honored that you would choose to share my work with a friend!

I love the Carpenter Bee! And I’m terrified of bees! Maybe not so much now. And the Desert Torte. Awesome texture. Your works always makes me smile, Sheila. I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving>

Aww thanks Laurie. That is high praise indeed. 😉 LOL I never thought I would want to paint a bug, but it was a fun challenge. And two years later, I saw improvements I could make, and did so digitally. Great “seeing” learning. Katie thinks I should do more… and I have to say I am thinking about it 🙂 But no spiders… never ever. LOL Happy family time to you as well my friend!

I have been thinking about it. He was hard work, but I am so happy with how he turned out. 🙂 I played with more collages for the prints. There was one on red that made me think you your work. It really looked cool. Might still post that for sale. Happy creating to you Katie 😉

Super pieces, Sheila. I especially like the bee ones although I can’t imagine having the design on too many things – lol. Good luck!

😉 He actually looks good on more items than I would have thought. And while I might not consider many of them, I did make them available. You never know who will be interested in what. 😉 Thanks for visiting, enjoy the rest of your weekend Val 🙂

Sheila, that carpenter bee! Captivating! My eye first takes in the image as a whole, then almost immediately begins exploring the shadows, the transitions of color in the flower petals, and, in Carpenter Bee with green background, the depth and quietly compelling detailing in the background which I really like. Kudos!

So glad you enjoyed it Dotty. I completely forgot to mention the details of the Bee. It is a collage of sorts. (I have added to the post now.)
Happy creating to you my friend 😉
