Surprise, surprise, surprise. I am surprised at how well this turned out. It was a horrible catastrophe the entire time I was working on it. The late hour and pure determination got it done. Or maybe it was laziness. I did not want to start over.

Long list of fixes that could be made. The vase is perfect on the left, and NOT on the right. The shadow should wrap around the side, instead of sit underneath the vase. The right side of the table edge is higher than the left. (Hmm, thought there was more.)

I painted the table 4 times. Tried different textures that goofed or splotched or made a mess.  Finally I just pressed a credit card into the wet paint to make a check pattern.

The same with the background. Mess 3 or 4 times. Scraped on paint with a credit card first, Didn’t like the hard edges. Covered that with paint, and pressed a texture sheet on to it. Nuthin’. The rust color was looking, orange. So I covered it with more bisque and pressed the dots texture sheet on. Almost worked. Looked really good while it was still wet. I was disappointed when it dried. But looking at it now, I do like the subtle effect.

At the end I was sure I had a piece of yuck. But I was going to post it anyway. Then I thought, maybe some black would save it.

There it is. Pretty sunflowers. Whew!

More work to be done on this, time slipped away. I finished four of the small canvases. Not much work needed. I spent more time prepping the scans for posting, than I did on painting.

Started this late, seems to be my pattern in this challenge. I need to deepen the front range, it seems out-of-place to me. I also meant to add the moon and some clouds, but that will get done tomorrow.

Feeling  much more relaxed now that I have my goal in sight.

Put the finishing touch on yesterday’s piece. Added some detail to the left side. Better.

Painted this late last night. Should have turned off the light, but I picked up a brush instead. Really happy with how it turned out. And today four more came into being. I am ahead if I continue to paint each day.

Such fun to splash water, and splash colors, and let them mingle!

FUNdamentals of Alcohol Ink E-Course

Sandy Sandy has a new class starting this week and I am so excited to be taking part! The FUNdamentals of Alchohol Ink E-Course is a four-week course, with more than two dozen demos!  I was hesitant to sign up, and commit to it at the same time as the challenge. But I couldn’t resist. I LOVE Sandy’s work with inks!

I can create at my own pace, and will have access to the lessons for a full year. I have worked with inks just a little on Yupo. I am really excited to learn more about the medium. Take a peek at the links, Sandy has some short videos that show what we will be up to!

My site might be up and down this morning, They are replacing some “trunk equipment” in the area. Don’t ask me what that means. Tech talk. I am just thankful I was finally able to get my post up!

Happy creative Monday to you!
