I received a beautiful picture postcard from Christine Brooks, and I knew I wanted to paint the image. An Ibis, walking in a cross walk. Such a graphic composition. Just noticed I have him walking on the edge of the cross walk.

I was intimidated about trying to paint this bird. But again, the sketchbook made it less about “grand” perfection, and more about practice. I’m pretty happy with my first Ibis. Thanks Christine, for the surprise!

30 In 30

It’s here. Leslie’s painting challenge starts in three days. Last week I thought about my palette for the challenge. I don’t think my color choices have changed much since the September Round. To get it straight in my head, and to find out which supplies I need, I made a color chart. I used a hinge pin to dab the paint on. Less mess.

Acrylic color chart.

Acrylic color chart.

Now I can clearly see what I have in stock, and which paints are gloss or matte. I reorganized my art cart, most used items close at hand. You all know how much I love to organize, LOL. I even started a couple of small pieces.

So why do I feel so antsy?

Have you been to Dollar Tree lately? They have collage papers in stock. Three colorways in multiple patterns. Pretty nifty.

Right. Time to announce the giveaway recipients. I had a friend choose 10 Numbers between 1 and 30. And from the comments on those days, I took each name, wrote them on  a slip of paper, and put them in a bowl.

From the bowl I choose ten names. I mixed the names up each time I took one out. Several names were drawn multiple times. Thanks you guys for being regular visitors!

In the sense of fairness, I replaced multiples with new names. Better to spread the bookmark wealth around. LOL.

Drum roll please!

Can you believe that someone recorded
this drum roll
to fill 10 HOURS of video??

And the Bookmarks go to:

If you can read your name…. just kidding,

Laurelle, Val, Judith, Christine B., Christiane,
Carol E., Sea, Dotty, Martine, and Laurie!

Congratulations!

The bookmarks will be cut from these four paintings. Leave a comment with your first and second choice, and your mailing address. I will delete the address before posting the comment.  I already have some of your addresses from the postcard mailing. If it hasn’t changed, you are good to go!

Thanks again everyone for taking the time to follow along with my daily September posts. Your encouragement, and inspiration is very important to me!

September 2017 30 Paintings In 30 Days Review

I had fun with this month’s challenge. Had a rocky start with site crashes, comments going down, and then a road trip interruption. All of that seemed to make the month fly by. I never felt that third week are-we-there-yet dread kick in. Blessings in disguise. Seems to me the start of January’s challenge was rocky too. Maybe I should just expect rocky,

I botched Day 2. I was happy with it. Then the last step. Wreck. It was late, and I needed a replacement to post PDQ. And that is how the first abstract came about. Simple as that. I didn’t plan to do others, but the colors called me.

Most popular days by views: 8, 11, 6, 16, 30, 5, 20, 14, 13,  and 12. In that order. Only three of those are on my favorites list. What do I know?

Big thank you to Leslie Saeta for hosting yet another fantastic event! My heartfelt thanks to each of you who took the time to visit me here. Who follow my artistic journey. Our conversations mean the world to me. I am so grateful to have found this community, and I cherish every one of you! For your encouragement, your guidance, your inspiration,

Thank You!

Giveaway alert! I would love to send out 10 bookmarks. Random drawing from your comments. I am going to have a friend choose 10 numbers between 1 and 30. The names from those days will go into a bowl, and the recipients selected from there.

I am going to cut the bookmarks from these paintings:
