Creating Bad Art

I have been painting abstracts. I start out trying for loose and large (ish). Before I know what happened, everything is tiny and tight. Ugh!!  Today I thought I would go to one of my defaults, and try to salvage my bruised ego.

The resulting painting is not great. Not bad either. I am particularly happy with the sky, mostly because I thought I had botched it halfway through.  And there was joy in the creating! That is a win anytime! I will try again with the abstracts tomorrow.

Alicia Tormey posted inspiration yesterday. A perfect reminder at the perfect time. Never ceases to amaze me how the universe works. I had listened to the video clip, gosh, maybe two years ago. I was very glad of the reminder, thought you might appreciate it as well.

Do you see the face in the clouds?  Happy creating to you!

I DO see the face in the clouds, but most likely would not have, had you not asked!

This piece evokes temperature for me: the near mountains are dry and warm, perfectly radiantly cozy and energizing. The far mountains are the sudden swift drop into crispness at the time of year (usually late summer, early fall in my neck of the woods) when the temps go from warm to where’s-my-sweater in a matter of minutes in the late afternoon or early evening. Love the juxtaposition here.

I almost did not mention the face. Once seen, I can not “unsee” it. Love your thoughts on the tempurature. Those hills often look that way to me. Dry and warm. And further up, cool and crisp. Thanks for visiting Dotty 🙂

Yes the sky is wonderful. Think what brush did I use? I have read from other artists a lot about brush size. When you pick up your brush, put it down and get the next size,

Good idea Carol. Yes… I was using the same brush. Medium, not large. 🙂 I will do that today 🙂

You are so right to be pleased with the sky – it is super! Why not share you abstracts with us so we can give our opinions; remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have done a number of pieces over the years that I hated but they sold which proves that I don’t always know when something is good or bad. Have a great night.

I remember you saying that before about pieces you did not like. Thanks for the reminder Val 🙂 Enjoy your day!
