Painted this today. My second try. I am happy with it. Wish all the clouds had turned out the same hue. Oh well. I learned a lot from the first attempt. And also from editing this in Photoshop. Gotta love learning!!
Below is yesterday’s. Blech! The clouds look dirty, as do the hills. I could not get the colors adjusted correctly, so I “Photoshopped” this by adding a layer of red over the hills. That still was not working, so I added low percentage of blue over that. Both layers were not at full opacity, so the painting remained visible. I used a brush tool, and you can see above the peak on the left, that I went over the same area twice, making the blue visible. That was a mistake, but I kind of like it.

I like them both. Love the ‘red’ range and the green in the foreground. Those clouds in the second painting are beautiful. We are our own worst critic. I do like your ‘blech’ painting! The shading on the hills gives it a lot of depth and that sky is so well painted. Your second ‘try’ is lovely as well, Sheila. I am going to check out GIMP, but leave photoshop to you pros! Look forward to tomorrows painting!

What super colours! I really like this one and don’t mind that the clouds might be different hues – more natural I think. Aren’t you a clever girl to be able to adjust your pieces in photoshop – good for you!

First off kudos to you that you are learning photoshop, I tried GIMP and did some of the easy things but my mind just doesn’t work that way. I like both of them, each has their things that are super. I like the mountains being the bold color and I think I like them in the first with the sky in the second. Don’t you wish we could just order ourselves to do it like that?
I totally get that Nelvia! I think I only know, maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of what PS can do. An amazing program but so complex. I like different things in each painting as well. I would love to have a Tabitha nose I could wiggle and make magic happen 🙂 LOL have fun today!

As ever, I love the gift of getting to hang out virtually in your studio as you experiment, as you put brush to paper, step back, step in again, adjust, cringe, walk away, light up with an idea, achieve an effect, and let your inner life shine through your art. The sky in Red Light has depth and authenticity, with its color field gradated from bottom to top and its clouds of varied values.

Really like this one. Such different colours than the others. I like the fact that not all the clouds are the same hue, it adds variety and gives more sense of depth. I started with watercolour many years ago but gave it up as the result was never what I had in mind. I think it is the most difficult medium and you handle it well.
