I started this thinking of flowers, but let’s face it. They look like lolly pops. Giant Willie Wonka lolly pops. I need to rework my shadows, but I like this otherwise. Warning: the following video will have you craving at least five kinds of candy.

We are just an advanced breed of monkeys
on a minor planet of a very average star.
But we can understand the Universe.
That makes us something very special.

I am just a child who has never grown up.
I still keep asking these ‘how’ and ‘why’ questions.
Occasionally, I find an answer.

I had a name for this. Not very original. Karin Naylor mentioned it in her comment on my piece yesterday. These shapes may not be very original either. I found a couple of small paintings I did last year, and I have a feeling I saw something I liked, and tried to learn how to recreate it.

These are fun though. I have a feeling there will be more.

The final addition to this was a layer of copper. After adding texture, I just wasn’t happy. I applied the copper with a sea sponge, and voilà! Done. Whew!

Copper layer.

Copper layer.

Here is a look at the pattern created by the sponge. It is delicate and lacy. Pretty.  The warm deep tones, mixed with the light of the copper brought a favorite poem to mind.

Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou. Listen to her read it here. Even her voice was phenomenal!
