Work In Progress, Day 4, 5…

I don’t know what I was thinking.

“I can whip these out in a couple of hours, they are so small”

These are 4 x 4 inches. I don’t have a result in mind, not trying for anything in particular, other than “pretty”. I am working on a small series to submit for publication. I’ll tell you all about that tomorrow, when I actually have something to show.

The sun was already down, so horrible lighting, but still a peek, and proof that I am painting.

Just building layers, texture, pattern. Years ago I did faux finishing, well I still do at times but not that ghastly marble that was all the rage. Might use some of those tricks here though.

I am known among my family and friends, for having this weird gift. They can bring me any piece of furniture, and I can tell them exactly what they need to do to match it.  Colors, technique, products, tools. Say they found an expensive night stand, and they want to DIY it on the cheap. In fact this month I will be painting a bathroom cabinet to match a shabby chic piece. I’ll show you when it is done!

I don’t feel right posting this to Leslie‘s blog, I think I will wait and post the finished pieces.

Happy creating everybody!

Crystal Blue Persuasion

My submission for the A.I.R. Wish You Were here 13 Postcard Exhibition is ready. Just not sure which one it will be yet. I do have a favorite, but I am really interested to see what you think. So take a look, and let me know in the comments which one you like best.

I included the before with the after. And you can see them again here. The single white flower was a total fail about half way through. I added some crinkled paper that I had painted red. When it dried, it was pale and dusty, and not really a color I could describe. Certainly NOT red. I covered the ugly with white, and started over. The wrinkles and crinkles catch the light, adding some depth. The swimmer and the stargazer were already on the paper, it just took a little negative painting, to set them free.

Have a super Sunday ~
Thanks for taking the time to tell me which one you like.

Blossoms in Blue Complete

4 x 6 postcard, watercolor, Nupastel, oil pastel, crayon.

I placed this on a shelf to look at it from a distance. I decided to up the volume, adding more white, a brighter yellow, and a brighter pink.  I added a bit of dark blue pastel which is reading almost turquoise on the scan. I also added a few more blue splatters to replace what was under the pastel work. I still think the front stem needs work, but I am calling this done.

Deadline is looming, I need to finish one or two more, and make a decision.

Enjoy your evening~
