This was just a bit of fun before bed. I placed Linda’s postcard in this plant for show and tell on the LYA Facbook page. Gave me the idea to paint the pot. I used a sea sponge and some yellow to create the plant shapes. Next I used my waterbrush and added some blues to the wet paint, letting them mingle on the paper.

LYA Postcard #4 has arrived. This came to me from Linda Yeatman in Reston Virginia. Linda is a mixed media artist. I just love the intricate details. This butterfly looks as if it is made out of jewels. I really love Linda’s use of white space as well. I’m not sure, but I think this card is an original.

Linda included this on the back:

Art enables us to find ourselves
and lose ourselves at the same time.

So true.
Linda, your card was such a nice surprise!
I am so glad you liberated your art!
Thank you!

While we have the gift of life,
it seems to me the only tragedy
is to allow part of us to die
– whether it is our spirit,
our creativity
or our glorious uniqueness.

It is easy, if you remember to just let the paint do the work. And wait for it to dry. LOL. It was a quick piece, fun becasue everything worked. And you know that does not always happen! LOL. Enjoy your day Nelvia, and thanks so much for checking in!

What a little fun to have before sleep. I keep wishing I could figure out why I don’t get your automatically. Oh well, just got to program my brain to keep checking what mischief you are up to. I have to watch for those post cards next year, they are all so wonderful and a little present each time you receive one.

Your use of colors and sea sponge is spectacular here, Sheila! Love the life and love in that plant, and its lacy effect.

Thanks again for sharing an LYA postcard, this one with a captivating juxtaposition of intricate detail and quiet white space.

Isn’t mingling paint on paper fun? Your plant and pot are super, Sheila – simple but so bright and cheerful. The LYA postcard is wonderfully intricate and delicate and has that lovely quote – lucky girl!
