Mini Book Christmas Ornaments

Hey everybody, sure do hope your Christmas was a great one!  It sure was a busy one around here. And great!

I promised I would share these, had to wait until after they were opened.

I can’t claim credit for this awesome idea, that goes to Jill K. Berry. You can see her creations here.

These were fun to make. I used Photoshop for the quotes. Printed them out, and then added stamping, and metallic paint. The photo here of the inside pages is early in the process, I forgot to take a later one. I used textured papers for the book covers, and I really like how they look.  I also covered the inside to hide where the ribbon was attached. Mom’s tree is always on the elegant side, and these books have a very rich feel to them.

They were a hit, I am glad to say. For my brother I used a couple of lines from the Three Dog Night song, Joy to the world. One of his favorite songs when he was young. Got a chuckle which is what I was hoping for.

I received a WoNdEfuL surprise on Christmas eve. A signed and matted original from Kathy Mackay. My photos were not doing it justice, take a look at it on her site.  Kathy had a Christmas give away on her Facebook page. I was one of four lucky recipients. I am so honored Kathy! It is beautiful!

I hope you will visit Kathy’s site and view her award-winning work! Thanks again Kathy, I will treasure it!

Wishing you JoY and cOmFoRt!

The Votes Are In

Here are your top four favorite postcards. I tallied all the likes, shares and comments. Thanks so much everyone for sharing your thoughts!

Red will be in the outgoing mail tomorrow, bound for The Luhring Augustine Gallery in New York city for the Visual Aids 17th ANNUAL POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE. All proceeds support the work of Visual AIDS. Visual AIDS utilizes art to fight AIDS by provoking dialogue, supporting HIV+ artists and preserving a legacy – because AIDS IS NOT OVER. Each card  in the show will be priced at $85.

This card looks the most “New York” to me. That put it on my list of favorites, but I prefer the second and third choice. The benefit is not until February, but I will let you know as soon as I find out if it has sold.  (Both of my earlier cards did sell.) Here it is signed:

Postcard Preference

Time for me to decide which postcard I will send to the Visual Aids 17th ANNUAL POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE exhibition.  I need your help, because I have six favorites and I can only send one card.

I just finished these two. They may seem totally unrelated. I have wanted to paint a tree in our neighbors back yard. It just glows all day long. It is taller than the rest of the trees, and it even seems to glow when the sky is grey and the sun is hidden.

I spoke with a friend in Montana the same day I painted this tree. It was snowing sideways, the winds were so strong. I started this next one as an abstract, trying to use some leftover paint. Obviously blustery was on my mind.

I actually think I like it better upside down. What do you think? I can see a hint of tall mountains, maybe a lake in the distance.

Here they all are together. No particular order.
