Blue Sage on Yupo

I have been busy doing design work for a friend’s wedding. Nothing that I can show you. Having fun though! I did do this quick watercolor on Yupo late one night. My brushes were calling.

I used a photo from paintmyphoto.ning.com, by David B. Richman. The intense cobalt blue made me stop and take a closer look. Because the object was so minimal, I wanted to add a lot of interest to the background. To do this, I first laid down a base, and while it was wet I splattered a complimentary earth tone. I continued by splattering clean water, and alternately more of the secondary color.

Art Feature On They Draw And Cook

Sometimes Stolen Salad

June 2012

Sometimes Stolen Salad
is 1 of 6 recipes in the Featured Collection
on They Draw & Cook’s main jumbotron.
The collection is called
“The Perfect Pear!”

and will be featured from
March 30 to April 6.

This is one of the first pieces of art I shared publicly. I hadn’t even started blogging at that point. I had so much fun working on this, it allowed me to combine my love of watercolor and graphic design. Still one of my favorite pieces!

Do you love to cook? I bet you love to eat!  Ready to try something new? If you have never visited the TDAC site, you really need to check it out. You can search for recipes by food, or use their Dial-A-Dinner if you are in the mood for some culinary roulette!

Artists are welcome to submit designs, sign up for their blog or newsletter!

Still a couple of days to vote
in the Spoonflower
Southwest Baby Bedding Contest!

Happy Giveaway Day!

It’s time to make some lemonade. I guess this is not really a lemon. A minor disappointment maybe.  But I am not crushed.

POSTCARD GIVEAWAY

The postcard I created for this years Postcards from the Edge benefit did not sell. The gallery sent it back to me. And I am going to set it free. Again.

I have not done a giveaway before. I should probably be scientific about it. But I am thinking. K.I.S.S. So leave me a comment.

Tell me why you like Red.
Will you frame it?
Will you gift it to a friend?
Do you have a spot in your home that you know it will be perfect in?

It doesn’t have to be a long comment. I haven’t really decided, should I choose the best comment, or put names in a hat. You can give me you opinion on that too if you want.
(Probably names in a hat.)

Along with the postcard, I will include the pamphlet from the event and the collectors copy with a statement from me. The back of the postcard is stamped and numbered from the event as well.

You can read more about Red here, and here.

I will make the announcement on Friday.

Happy day to ya’!
