30 In 30, Day Eleven

Nobody loves me, nobody cares,
Nobody picks me peaches and pears.
Nobody offers me candy and Cokes,
Nobody listens and laughs at me jokes.
Nobody helps when I get into a fight,
Nobody does all my homework at night.
Nobody misses me,
Nobody cries,
Nobody thinks I’m a wonderful guy.
So, if you ask me who’s my best friend, in a whiz,
I’ll stand up and tell you NOBODY is!
But yesterday night I got quite a scare
I woke up and Nobody just WASN’T there!
I called out and reached for Nobody’s hand,
In the darkness where Nobody usually stands,
Then I poked through the house, in each cranny and nook,
But I found SOMEBODY each place that I looked.
I seached till I’m tired, and now with the dawn,
There’s no doubt about it-
NOBODY’S GONE!!   ~ Shel Silverstein

I started three different paintings today. None of which you see here. Another participant in the challenge posted that she completed a painting, and then decided to scrape it all off and start over. Whew!  Nice to know I am not alone. Her final piece is fabulous by the way.

I hope you will visit Leslie Saeta’s site, and take a look at all the great art that is being created!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Update: Two of the paintings I worked on turned out better than I expected. Hooray!

I thought I had ruined this. I was almost done too. I had planned to have the stem much longer, and the leaf (or two) were going to be larger and bend down closer to the fruit. I botched the shape of the stem connecting to the leaf, and I had to scrub it all out. The paper was stained, and the only thing I could do was create the leaf to cover it up. Don’t you think that little lone leaf is just about perfect? Such an amazing surprise!

I bought some pears today. I read that you do not want to put them in the fridge until they have ripened. It stops the process. I always leave mine out, I think they taste better at room temperature. I have some Laughing Cow cheese, and I am going to make a Grilled cheese and pear sandwich with that. I also found an almost ready mango. Heaven is waiting on the counter!

Good luck to all the artists on day ten!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

30 Paintings In 30 Days, Day 9

“A man watches his pear-tree day after day, impatient for the ripening of the fruit. Let him attempt to force the process, and he may spoil both fruit and tree. But let him patiently wait, and the ripe pear at length falls into his lap!” – Abraham Lincoln

Here is a quick and healthy pear recipe that also makes an impressive presentation. Take thin slices of the whole fruit, top with an ounce of goat, ricotta or blue cheese. Add a drizzle of honey and you are good to go. Mmmm.

Thanks so much for visiting my site!

Happy Monday!
