There are always flowers for those who want to see them. Henri Matisse
The earth laughs in flowers. Ralph Waldo Emerson
I’m an introvert… I love being by myself, love being outdoors, love taking a long walk with my dogs and looking at the trees, flowers, the sky. Audrey Hepburn
God writes the Gospel not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars. Martin Luther

Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best. Henry Van Dyke
How did it happen that their lips came together? How does it happen that birds sing, that snow melts, that the rose unfolds, that the dawn whitens behind the stark shapes of trees on the quivering summit of the hill? A kiss, and all was said. Victor Hugo
I managed to get two pieces completed today. I am “out of the studio” tomorrow and I won’t have time to paint. On this, I used my fingers to paint, and my paint brush to doodle. The birds were there, the bodies and tails, I didn’t have to add much. Paint drips became trees. Loose and unstructured, that was the only plan. There are things I would change, but I am happy with it. What do you think? See?

Beautiful girls in fancy new dresses,
faces all powdered, combed are their tresses.
Standing still now, yes, on display
soon asked to dance, they hope, oh they pray.

I am the least happy with this one, of all I have painted so far this month. It’s done now, and on the books. I was actually on a roll today, I have three others started, and I worked a bit more on the one I thought was going nowhere (from a couple of days ago).
Maybe if I add a long braid to this, or some curls. Or swap the colors out. Hmm… so maybe it is a work in progress. I didn’t think of “ladies” in the beginning. But that red form, even before the color, looked as if she was standing there with an attitude. And the stripes remind me of those silly band-aid looking concoctions.
Ok, it is official. I have had the best birthday “week” ever! It started back on December 24th, when I received this wonderful painting from Kathy Mackay.
